You can always go with the Trust SP exhaust. It's got a nice deep tone to it and it's not too loud. I heard the Racing Beat and the M2 are the quitiest exhaust out there.

i'm not sure how hard you searched but here are four threads that you can look at, the first one is really good:

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/exhaust.html

and here's a random quote that's in one:

I recomend the greddy Power extreme (the original). It has a nice deep tone but is very subdued when you're not on it. I used to have an N1 dual on the car. The n1 drones a lot more than the PE and in general sounds less refined. Also, the tone of the PE is deeper which I think makes the car sound more substantial. My boost dropped slightly (say 1/4 psi), but the low end also seems better so in the end it was a wash.

A friend of mine (Ihor) has a single turbo w a ported motor and a midpipe. Last summer we removed his SP and put my PE on his car to see if there was a difference.
The PE was MUCH quieter under all conditions but WOT where it was about the same as the SP. The quality of the sound was also better (no ear numbing droning noise) under all conditions but WOT where the PE sounded more raspy than the SP.

The PE is a full stainless system, I believe only the canister on the SP is.

The Greddy exhausts actually flow very well, what size single are you using? I am in a similar situation as you, I am removing my Blitz Nur-spec.. I ordered the discontinued Tanabe G-power medalion (it is getting delivered today, woo hoo!).. I'll let you know how the Tanabe sounds. I am running a small single (TO4E) and I didn't want to give up top end flow either, the RB or M2 is a last resort for me if I don't like this exhaust.

The RE exhaust is supposed to be really quiet and flow quite well, the flow from you wallet will be considerable as well with it.

I noticed that no one mentioned the racing beat duals. I have it and it's slightly louder than stock but then sounds like a monster at WOT....the guys at RP says they have squeezed 400rwhp through it.

all the above mentioned exhausts are straight through designs and i don't believe any one will yeild a lot more power than the next. The quietest units will be the racing beat duel (have one) and m2 duel. For both of which many tuners have squeezed tons of power out of them. The old school greddy SP and PE are good too. But the PE has a pretty huge can that is proned to scraching on bumps etc.

That is exactly what I will be doing. I've heard the RB DT, and it sounds VERY quite at idle. I also like the stock appearance.

I wanted a quiet exhaust that would flow better. I got the RB dual tip. I have been very happy with it. Fit was very good. Easy installation. Good quality. I would highly recommend it.

There's always a trade off my friend. I used to have the apex'i N1 single with a mp w/borla, dp, single turbo and it was too loud so i switched to a racing beat single tip. The car is a lot quieter but you do sacrifice flow as it really doesn't flow as wel as the apex'i once did. Still it's worth not getting the attention of cops so that's why I switched.

The RE-A dolphin tail exhaust is LOUD! My friend has it on his car and that sucker is loud as a mother. It comes with a midpipe and a catback, the exhaust sounds really really nice, but the car is still too obnoxiously loud (probably louder than apex'i GT). I've also seen the old FEED exhaust and that thing was loud also.

I also have the Greddy PE, and i agree with everything theyve said. High flowing, quiet when compared to the N1 Dual, and i j/ like the sound better.

(the can will scrape on some bumps as sum1 said, so if ya get it, start thinking about going outta parking lots and driveways on an angle)

Peace,
Zach

Well that sucks the the RE-A Dolphin is too loud. I've allways heard it was the qietest and highest flowing exhaust.

It looks like JIC is what you are looking for, if you don't mind the ocal can look.

(JIC-Magic reply below)
505DE type2 for FD3s when 3000rpm 90db.

I forgot to mention that I have the Pettit with the 5&1/4 polished tip (DP and stock Cat') and it's extremely quiet at idle. I don't know anyone with stock to compare it to but it would be close with the exception of only a slight throaty drone over 3krpms. I have no idea if they are using Magnaflow or Borla for the oval can but I wouldn't doubt it.
