high RPM misfiring

hi all,

i have a new problem over here...
i have misfiring at around 6.7K rpm onwards with load.
the sound is just like... rev....... then broooppp broop broopp... multiple broop on my exhaust.... the RPM still climbs... but no power when it is misfiring.

basically, it was worse when i was using BUR7EQ and BUR9EQ... but when i switched to BUR8EQ and BUR9EQ.. new plugs... they seemed a little better... after the misfiring around 7K to 7.5K, the power comes back.. and goes all the way to 8.5 K where i don't dare to push too hard.

below are my mods,

1. Apexi dual Funnel air intake
2. Midpipe
3. Blitz Cat back NUR SPEC exhaust
4. main cat and pre-cat removed
5. remapped ECU (FAM SPEED)
remapped fuel map
boost increased to 0.9 BAR
boost limiter increased to 1.1 Bar
speed limit removed
6. BUR8EQ and BUR9EQ

all oils/lubrications changed

can someone please shed some lights on what should i look at ? plug cables ? ignition coils ? or it's the ECU that i can't use ?

I had the same problem and was able to fix it when I found it. AFR was extremely rich in that powerband and with a bit of leaning, problem disappeared. You should add a wideband to your list of mods.

You may need an ignition amp, most remapped/flashed ECU's will run super rich at higher rpms(100% injector duty) and this means you will have to have a more powerfull spark to ignite this richer/denser mixture.

hi all,

thanks for the information. will look into alternatives...

seems like HKS twin power is expensive... a piggyback controller is almost the same price...

a colder spark plug (BUR8EQ) is not cold enough... maybe someday i might wanna try 2 piece of BUR10EQ or 4 piece of BUR9EQ

i've heard people using BUR11EQ for all trailing and leading.... problem comes out again... too difficult to start and when need power.. it doesn't come on due to the plugs are not warmed up yet.

thanks for the advises.. i'll seek for the solution.

oh yeah... one more thing... do you all know why when i track my car on the weekend.... after numerous round.... the boost will drop from 0.9 bar to 0.5 bar only ?

i would say.... make it 4 laps of pushing hard.... the boost will drop to 0.5 bar
then i give it a 30 minutes rest... the boost came back up to 0.9 bar....

does it mean the IC not big enough ? or the intakes are clogged at high temp ? or the stock twins are running too hot ?
