Question HID lights?

Hi all this is my first post on the forum. A good friend of mine installed HID lights on his VW golf GTI. I wanted to know if there would be a kit for my FD? I want to keep the stock exposed headlights. Another question, If there is a kit, would it fit the 99' turn lamps? Please Reply. Merry X-mas.

???? and more ?????
What is stock exposed headlights? stock lights are the fold down head lights and there for not exposed, if it's exposed then it's not stock. If it's not stock, most of the "exposed" headlight kits uses fog lights or driving lights and are not DOT approved. I have heard of HID driving lights and I suppose you can make those replacements if you know the exact size of the lights.
What does HIDs have anything to do with the turn signals? Maybe I'm just not up to the latest fads, I have never heard of HID turn signals.

He said stock. That probably means the stock flip-up lights. Maybe he used the word "exposed" incorrectly, so sue him.

Anyway, to put HID lights in the stock housings will require HID bulbs designed to bolt into the stock H4 size sockets, ballasts and ignitors.

The thing with the H4 bulb is that in halogen (i.e. regular) form it is a dual-filament bulb which includes both the low and high beam. When you go to an HID bulb there is no filament because it functions by passing an electrical current through an enclosed pocket of xenon gas. Some kits offer a high beam capability so look out for that while shopping.

One other thing to be aware of is that it is now illegal to sell HID lighting parts to retrofit cars that did not come stock with HID lights. It's kind of tough to find the parts although they're available on ebay. One other site that is kind of a small operation but a few friends of mine have used with good results is www.ultrabrightlights.com.

Chuck has a set of sleepy eye HIDs in the works right now.
Contact him and see if one of his kits is what you are looking for.

Doncojones and Rotarypower, Thank you for your positive replies. I appreciate the help you gave me. The "Exposed headlight" missunderstanding was a simple mistake of asking the wrong person thats all. And for the turning lamps. I dont know if they come in blue or not i am not trying to make some fad, i just want my headlights to match. Thanks alot though. Your info was very insightfull.
