usually when I see an S2k I think it is a pretty nice looking car.
Seeing one next to the FD though and it really looks like a very bland car (kind of like how an old Z3 or SLK looks bland and boring IMHO)

unless that sticker says A'pexi, Haltech, AEM, or Microtech you asking for it. Learn from all of our mistakes and buy a better ECU.

i didn't buy the ecu thinking it was tuned and all that. i bought the car from a kid from school who had the R1 flashed. if my memory serves me correctly. or its just an r1 ecu. i bought the car the way it is, planning on doing a rebuild and much more. i am not too worried. i don't drive the car very hard at all. i don't know a lot about the cars and im still learning. Considering the amount of knowledge i know about the cars i don't/haven't been driving my hard.

assuming makes an *** out of you and me, pal.

Boost spike will create boat loads of super lean, high boost power. For a few hours at the most, usually a few seconds. Then you're engine is done.

The tape on the side? do you have a picture of this tape? There are very few companies who reflash the stock ECU. None of them call it an R1(R1 is a stock trim level).

Even with a reflash or standalone, I'm pretty sure you also need your wastegate to be ported in order to control the boost. I could be wrong on that one, though.

so a boost spike is when the wastegate can't release enough of the boost or exhaust because its to small causing high boost than wanted, which would blow up the engine?
if thats not correct than what is it?

this would happen at full boost, correct? the max psi my car hits is 7 psi according to the gauge.

im curious about porting the wastegate. how much would this cost and i would have to take my engine apart to get to it right? because the wastegate is internal?

also i read the tape on the ECU and it says Factory R1 mazda rx7. so i think its just stock. which makes me nervous because i don't have enough money for a PowerFC.
help me out her guys, im freakin nervous.

i took the pictures in a place called Bryn Athyn. and its probably familiar because i bought the car from a guy in maryland. i assume you know him or maybe you are him. ..john?

Good luck! The FD is a very expensive car to maintain. Read through the stick FAQ's,there is alot of info there.
