Hey will someone help me explain this?

HEy will someone plz help me explain to my dad that a rotary engine is a good engine and with the right care and modifications, it can be very reliable. And that the rx7 needing a rebuild or a new engine doesn't mean that the car was abused. Especially since the car i want to buy is a 3rd gen with a blown engine, bit it blew at 77000 miles which is very good, because it lasted pretty long for a stock rotary. PLease if any of you could help convince my dad into getting an rx7 i would be forever in your debt !

check out hurley engineering in the uk. that guy is good. he has the best seals around. . . arguably. haha. i have talked to the owner a couple of times and they have some processes that will allow longevity of the 13b. and you can get a good engine here in the states. you have to spend money on getting the mods done right. . . . the reliability mods. it is worth it. the car is great. a lot of guys get them anddont have to do anything to it. make sure you get a good price on the car and you can spend the rest on getting everything done right. its fun. call the shops around here and they will be able to tell you. the car can be very reliable. it just depends on your abilities and how focused you are on keeping a good maintenance program for your new fd. do searches and call around. there is a guy here in tennessee who rebuilds rotaries for a good price and hes been doing it for a while. just ask around and search, search, search.

i bought my seven 2 yrs ago with 98K miles on it.. it had a new engine put in at 92K. I've driven it everyday since and she's great. I just rolled over 154K miles. Most everthing that has been done to the car is because i wanted to, not because something broke.

actually i would say that most of the cars that need a rebuild were abused or were someones test car for different tuning setups. fd's are not cheap. i would do a massive search on the cars reliability. there are a lot of things that need to be done in order to keep one in top notch condition. if you get one with a blown engine you can go ahead and get all this done in one swift blow co that would make a lot of your headache go away down the road, but if you are driving like a bat out of hell all the time then youre in for a treat. cause it aint no non-turbo acura. ive seen these cars last about 130k on the stock motor and even the stock turbos sometimes, but they were maintained very closely and driven very carefully. you cant drive the **** out of any car and expect it to last a long *** time.

If it's his money, it's his decision.

If you want the car, get a job and pay for it yourself.
