There are two main reasons to replace your plugs. One is a worn out electrode. You will be able to tell if this is your problem by looking at the small pin in the center. If it's worn then replace. Second is carbon buildup. A plug with this will have a dark brown flakey material all over it. This is common in cars running rich, too cold of spark plugs or in cars that are driven short distances. You can try cleaning them but I have found that they don't clean up that well. You will notice a rough idle if your plugs have carbon buildup on them. If it gets too bad the carbon can flake off and cause damage to the apex seals. I have research and part numbers on a variety of different plugs on my web site.

I change my spark plugs every 10,000 miles or less. The stock plugs don't last too long, usually around 15,000 miles.
