What kind of mileage, condition(ie does it run?), is it wrecked? $2,500 or $25,000?

just know that it is going to be moved from advanced tech back to the regular 3rd gen section or maybe even closed down. The RX7 is a pain in the *** to maintain. Honestly, I would have to assume, that at $2500 this one is pretty much dead.

So you will be looking at a minimum of $2000-2500 for a reman engine and $1000 for a set of rebuilt turbos. That is assuming that everything else is ok, that you don't crack any connectors on your harness or that it is so crispy that you get a short/open in one of the wires($750 for a new one) Oh and you might as well replace all your hoses and belts on the way out.

On top of this all the crusty little vaccum hoses will have to replaced, so think about anywhere between $50-100 for good silicon hose + a lot of patience while tracking down hoses, again this assumes that a check valve or solenoid doesnt disintegrate in your hands.

Doing this may get you back on the road, but let's not forget the reliability mods. ~$200 downpipe, ~$150 Aluminum AST, $400-500 Aluminum radiator, and whatever else the rest of 'em are...i can't think of them right off top anymore. Read http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/ at length he will explain all this.

This and all the other components that could possibly be messed up just like on any other car, alternator, starter, waterpumps, etc, etc, etc,

So all in all I would say estimate about $4000-4500 to get it back into stock form and somewhat reliable. you never know when other things might go; tranny, differential, but that is standard for most used cars.

If it is $25000 I would hope all of this is already done, plus some other mods, or it has been garaged and babied since 93.

wow, good write up although a nice "do a search newbie" type of post would have sufficed

yea I wouldn't mind picking one up for that price, but if what someone is looking for is cheap then they should never buy an FD. something like this would be an awesome platform for someone looking to rebuild the car from the ground up. instead of what most of us do which is replace good working parts with high performance aftermarket parts.

Thanks, and you are right Skunks, but have you ever just been bored...well thats what happened here. i figured i would type to pass the time. i think this subject comes up at least what 4 times a week; there are stickies, links, search button, but they never get used.
