Hey...I'm too young for a 'Vette
i sold my last fd to buy a 98 c5 mn6.Now i am back in another fd,and i love it.it seems to steer quicker and shift better than the vett. Congrats on your new car! you should change plug, wires and fuel filter asap.Always warm the car up and let it idle a minute or so with the ac on (it brings the fans on) before you shut it off. Also, a oil change every 3000 miles, and last you must pay homage to the rotory gods for long engine life LOL!
Thanks everyone.
It is very rare to find a '94 in stock condition with low mileage here in Canada. There are no 1995's in Canada and very few '94's (less then a hundred?).
When I found this car I felt like I won the lotto.
I promise to track the car at least once. After all, that's what it was built to do...drive fast!
It's just so nice right now, I think I'll baby it until I get used to it.
Cheers,
Bob in Calgary
PS. All my old "Vette-enthusiast buddies think I'm nuts.

but let me tell you something, its hard to say ill leave it stock cause once you put one mod, its like crack, you have to keep on doing it..
the fun never ends..well until you go broke..
lol

Most people get hooked once they drive any car on the track, let alone an FD.

and welcome.
1. boost guage. most important thing you can get.
2. downpipe.
3. radiator/AST.
make sure to never boost over 10lbs on the stock ECU, it can't adjust for it, and you'll blow the motor in no time.
as for tires, there are loads of great ones, and like most, i'd recomend bumping up to a 245/45 on the stock rims.
Welcome. Nice to see an FD in responsible hands.
I'll repeat that reading the stickies is one of the best ways to get an idea on what to modify in you car.
Boost Gauge, Temp Gauge using these gauges you can tell what's happening and get a better idea what reliability mod to tackle next.
AST, Radiator, Downpipe, boost controller.

Well Junior, I am an very young 56 quickly approaching 57 and still WAAAY to young for a Corvette although I could be talked into having the new Cadillac XLR as a long distance GT machine.
Most of the advice is right on the money. Have the reliability mods (search the words "reliability mods" in this subforum) done for you by a reputable shop-----NOT a Mazda dealer unless you live near someone like Malloy.
Drive the **** out of her at least once a week to keep the carbon out of the rotor housings, change the plugs every 10K miles and oil every 2K. Have the coolant changed to a mix of about 15% antifreeze to 85% distilled water and add a bottle of water wetter. Make sure the system is burped and full. (Search "Burping coolant"). The best way to refill the coolant is a shop that has a new vacuum fill system for coolants, that way you will never need to burp the system. Ask if the shop it they have it, if they look at you like you are from another planet, find another shop. It is a relatively new tool.
Congrats and welcome to the club.

Everyone.
I expect a little razzing being new and all.
I sure appreciate the advice.
I'm hoping to attract younger women with this 7 rather than the old Cougars that flocked around my C5 Vette.
Cheers,
Bob in Calgary

I am very fond of the Pirelli P-Zero Neros.
They are light maybe the only tire that meets the weight specification of 23 lbs Mazda initially insisted on, and the sidewall is a little softer than most, yielding a bit more civilized ride. The dry & wet traction is just fine for the street.
There are lots of higher cornering power tires out there, but higher cornering means stiffer sidewall and with Eibach springs and Bilstein shocks I have about all the stiffness I can abide, thank you very much.
I have 95,000 miles on my car, lots of replacement tires, and these are the best so far.

Welcome to the forum. I bought my 98 vette new. But I couldn't part with the 94 RX7, so I still have it. After owning both for 7 years, if I had to sell one, it would be the Vette. They are really very different cars.
From personal experience, some women look upon the Vette with distain but think that the Mazda is hot and want to go for a ride right now. Others don't know what an RX7 is, but they love that Vette V8 rumble. Life is all about choices.

Now running Kumbro's with 40 aspect ratio... I still like the AVS ES100's with a 60 aspect ratio (15" Rim) better than the Kumbros with a 40..
nice did you buy this one http://www.canadatrader.com/result/d...9197618&pgno=2
Mission accomplished!!
When I was driving my new 7 to the golf course, a hot 20something
chick leaned out of the passenger window of a Prelude and shouted that
my car was "awesome!" and blew me a kiss.
I'm feeling good about my purchase.

PS. I'm not making this up

Well good deal doc, now get her in the car and have her blow something else.
^^^Haha! Welcome! I think all the previous reliability mod comments cover the basics. I'm currently running Yoko AVS ES100s. Good tires. Have only had them for a short time so I can't comment on tread wear but I had them in the rain for the first time this week and they handled fine.
