help with strange greddy type S noise

ive just gotton my greddy type S style BOV from ebay today. I originally had a genuine type R one on there and it was very quiet so thought i would try this one as it sounds very similar to an SSQV (my favourite sounding one but already had a greddy flange welded on).

I hooked up the BOV and installed the vacuum pipe round the back of it. took the car out for a spin and it was producing the same sort of sound as my type R. Its very flat and real hard to hear. Its not even audible when driving. What the hell is making the BOVs sound like this when they are clearly meant to sound different. I know its definatly working though as i can feel the air come out if i put my hand over the BOV exit.

incase it makes a difference, i dont know, its a single turbo FD3 with the BOV located between the turbo and FMIC. I dont get any fluttering so thats nothing to do with it.

I will try and take some sound clips tommorow so you can hear but its so quiet it probably wont show up against the engine noise.

hope someone can help.

na, thats not it. I tried changing the screw, if it was too soft it would just release air too easily, too hard and i get that compressor surge noise but the BOV noise didnt change at all.

A picture will be very helpfull in this case and then we can all help out....
I'm thinking maybe you have a leak from the vacuum hose so its not opening the BOV properly.... so check that out first~~

should have thought of posting a pic to start with.

well better late than never, here it is:

the vacuum pipe goes into a pressure manifold in the top left that feeds the sensors for the AVCR, AIC and water injection. If i had a vac leak wouldnt these be affected too.

i could try plumbing it straight into the plenum i suppose. Its a real strange thing though.
