If you are competent with mechanical work, you might want to consider swaping the tranny for a 5spd. if you get used parts and have 40 hrs of spare time, you could prob get the swap done for $1000.

This may or may not get you any more $$ for your FD, but it will definitly make more sellable, as other have mentioned, nobody in the world really wants the "true roots" sports car that has a tranny that takes away much of the driver-car relationship.... do YOU want a glf that you cant hold hands with??

Let's see.... between auto, photography, running, and professional, I'd say maybe a dozen? That doesn't count another half dozen listserves. I have no idea as to post count. If you are really interested, Google is your friend. I agree I have lots of learning to do. Your point?

I suppose I can substitute a photo of my car if that would make you more comfortable. I'm as ugly as God, parents, and years have made me. Not a lot I can do about that. Not familiar with the movie you're referring to.

The car is worth what someone will pay. <-- (period)

Me personally; I think an automatic FD is the antichrist. I'd only give someone $7k for that car to part it out for a little profit. But autos are rare, so if there is someone looking for one, then all you have to do is find them. I guess i could see my girlfriend wanting an auto FD, she thinks they're "cute".

Buying/selling cars has a lot to do with the "human" aspect of the interaction. If the buyer can trust the seller and they see eye to eye on mods, car care, etc, then they'll happily hand over $15k cash to take the liability off the previous owners hands.

On the other hand, if the buyer doesn't "like" their impression of the seller, they won't buy the car regardless of a great deal. With that said, I offer $5k for your car.

with the amount of mileage and what not on your car, i think the most u can ask for is between the 15-17k range. but most likely the offers you'll get are around the 9-13k mark. and like others have said, your best bet is to leave the car out for people to spot it with a "for sale" sign. someone loving the looks of the car will eventually call about it. the other problem with your car other than previous dmg, o/d, auto tranny, is that its a rotary in general. i put my car up on craigslist just to see what kind of responses i would get, and you wouldn't believe the amount of "well its a rotary and bad reliability, so how bout i rip you off and try to pay u only 8k?" but if u wait long enough, and are diligent, i'm sure someone will come by and pick off your FD for a decent price. the guy i bought my FD from (i'm the 2nd owner of the car) had his posting up for literally 15minutes before i called and told him i'd buy the car in cash. good luck to you though on the sell!

This is a car I am considering buying for my wife. This will be the families second 3rd gen if we go ahead with the purchase.

I drive an APU Supra and my daily is an 04 E55.

Zen, You offer me 5k for my Supra and AMG? Sure, come on over and we can work it out.

You already are familiar with the 3rd gens. It is obvious that for rotary enthusiasts, being an auto would really bring down your resale value. However, if you aren't planning on reselling it any time soon and your wife wants to drive a very nice and fun auto, then just figure out what the car is worth to you. Likewise, the seller may have a hard time finding a buyer that wants, or is willing to settle for, an auto. You could easily use that as a lever to negotiate a low price.

Good luck.
