It's on the front of the engine, just above and to the driver's side of the main shaft pulley. It's behind the main vacuum chamber, which must have the alternator removed to be accessed. So in other words, you need to dig in a good bit to get it, which is why I photographed mine when I had the chance.

The numbers, I believe, are only on remanufactured engines - the stock engines don't have a number, or at least a number that's of any meaning.

I think we determined recently that there's no correlation between any engine number and the VIN of the car.

Some people determined that but they are wrong. The original motor can be traced to the original car/VIN.

The engine number is on the front iron on the top. This number only keeps track of the front iron though. Rebuild the engine and you can get any number of different housings and side plates and still have the same engine number.

Thanks for all the reply guys! I really appreciate for all your help! In some country, people need those engine numbers thanks been carved to the engine block (honda's engine number is the easiest to find) to get their car registered..... Thank you very much everybody!
