artguy: maybe your dealer needs the smack. My dealer has been working on rotaries since the early 1970's. The've done a lot of work on my FD including installing my light flywheel. They've also worked on my FB and FC for 13+ years. The problem with dealers is just like those with tuners - get referrals from a number of people you know. BTW: not too hard to hook up the Mazda compression testor and write down the digital reading. If your dealer can't do this then stay away!

BTW: a famous tuner (PFS) did not figure out the problem when I had the car there specifically for this smoking.

All Mazda dealers can do the compression test and most of the tuners. BTW the compression test works for all rotaries, not just the FD. Mazda dealers get a bad rap because of how hard it is to diagnose the twin turbo system. The rest of the FD is pretty standard stuff and similar to the FC. I would be more willing to guess there are a lot more competant dealers than 1. I can name a few more - Malloy Mazda, Nucar Mazda, Martin Mazda. There are 2 Mazda dealers in DE and they are both competant.

Did you try the NE forum? You can ask someone there.

yeah...they get a bad rap alright...not only did they try to charge my warrantee for "two twin turbo setups....since they are twins" which is only 7k for parts....that action also led to my warrantee coming to inspect the vehicle and finding my suspension upgrades back when it ws stock which voided the warrantee.

the dealers her in cali are ***********....anaheim mazda wants 4800 for their remans...engine only....when most dealers charge around what 3k at most? maybe 2??

basically I got royally fucked at least three times in my three experiences with the dealer

btw....they also had a hard time diagnosing the rather complex (LMAO) antenna system....had em install a new antennae under warrantee and it still doesnt work.

Ive met NO dealers in the histor of my car who knows jack **** about my third gen....it has nothing to do with the turbo system...it has to do with ****** in the parts department/ service knocking up prices to get better commissions and mechanics in back who dont have the experience to handle the vehicle.

It does sound like the dealers in CA suck. Typical price is $2200 retail and down to $1900 with a discount for a reman motor. My dealer here has a guy who specializes in the RX-7 and has all the factory training.
