Help!! New engine keeps flooding & dieing

I just had a mazda reman installed. The car has ~110k miles on it, I have PFS stock mount intercooler, ntech dp, Blitz nur-spec cat back, stock main cat, & PFC. I had my mechanic check some things: map sensor, spark plug wires, I had him ut some atf in, change the oil, pull the fuel pump relay let it crank several times, put the fuse back in & then start it up again. He said it started, ran for 30 seconds and then died again. He said it is blowing black smoke as well (obviously rich). Is this normal, should I have him rev the engine not to let it die, if this works, just to warm it up, I have heard you should run it for 20-30 min to let the seals seat. I am just wondering if this sounds normal, and this is what I should try, or should we look for some other underlying cause first? If I can force it to run by depressing the gas pedal, should I? or could this cause other damage? My understanding is that the PFC retains its maps even if it is unhooked from the battery for some time. The car sat for 8months or so.. Thanks in advance for the help.

Check the green coolant sensor at the back of the water pump housing - if it's not plugged in, you'll have cold running probs. My first guess, though, would be the MAP sensor - make sure it's eletronically plugged in and the vacuum line is connected up to the correct port on the intake manifold. Also, make sure he didn't replace the filter in-line with the vacuum line to the MAP sensor with a check valve .

I would make sure that he put the injector diffusers in when he did the reassembly of the reman engine.

What exactly is an injector diffuser? This is obviously not the pintal (spelling) caps or the o-ring, but there is something else? I will ask if he is aware of them, but if some could explain exactly what they are it might help.

Just an update on this issue. It is now solved. Of course this is after $1400 and a trip to KD rotary. The short story is that they replaced my wiring harness.

Some little things they found were:

- secondary throttle plate vaccume source was plummed wrong
- my vaccum tank hose was pinched under the alternator
- one of my bypass air control wires was broken
- water temp sensor wires were bare & possibly touching
- one of my injector seals was damaged (although they were new with the engine)
- there was a vaccum leak under the plenum.

Other than that everything was in great shape :-)

Afterwards the car put down 298.5 rwhp at 12 lbs of boost.

Sweet.
