Hi Guys,
I need some help with this one. Don't want to screw it up!! I just got 2 new electronic gauges. Where are the best mounting locations for the water temp & oil temp sending units. I dont really want to start drilling and tapping if I don't have to.
Thanks in advance for any help.

The water temp guage works good when it is tapped to the thermostat housing. I had an oil temp sender tapped through the drain plug it was a pain in the ***. Oil temp is pretty useless if you have a water temp IMO.

I bought a greddy radiator hose adapter. plugged the water temp into the adapter and then cut the hose and stuck the adapter in the middle of the radiator.
For the oil temp, I bought a greddy oil filter adapter and stuck it in there with my oil pressure gauge.

If you put the sender unit in a radiator hose it is not going to give you the correct temperature until the thermostat opens up correct? I think the oil filter adapter would be the way to go. Are those easy to get in the states?

I really like the radiator hose idea. Sounds a lot better than trying to tap the radiator, and if I mess up...it's just a new hose. The oil filter adaptor sounds great too.
If any other thoughts come to mine, please let me know.
Thanks, Adam

FWIW, I hear that the T-stat is the most accurate place to do it, then right after that there is the radiator hose...
I know most of you will pounce on me for this but I drilled and tapped my Pettit AST and mounted the water temp there...It's been there for 3 months now and it's only 2°f off form my PFC...anyway, I like it especially since I didn't feel comfortable drilling into my t-stat...
works for me

The other place for the water temp sender is in the hose to the Throttle body - gets coolant circulation regardless of T-stat Position - get a brass T and 2 barbed hose fitings at Hardware store and splice into the hose - the other advantage is its real close to the firewadll so you don't have to run the wire very far.
Oh, and I also use the GReddy Oil Filter Block Adapter...it has threads for both the oil pressure and temp senders...works great except you have to undo the throttle position sensor clip every time you change the filter....slightly tight...
