help! my car wont start

my mods: apexi intake, non sequential, fmic, koyo rad, pfc, dp, catback

I cant start my car after witner project, i could get it started but it idled very roughly for 10 mins and then wouldnt start again. I later noticed that i had map sensors vacuum hose and i think that was the problem for rough idle.

But now i cant get it started. i cleaned plugs and tested that they worked, then i cranked the motor without plugs to clean chambers from flooding and testing compression, i heard even pft pft pft from both chambers so i think there is compression. but still car wont start. any ideas??

if your map hose wasnt connected it is probably now flooded. keep trying the deflood, get new plugs, i recommend ngk B9EGV, oreilly's can get them the same day for cheaper then stock plugs, they seem to resist fouling better and just overall run better. you will need a special thin socket, or turn a normal socket down on a lathe like i did.

Also try a few squirts of oil, auto trans fluid, or marvel mystery oil, in the two lower plug holes. this will build the compression up. When you flood the engine the gas washes away the oil from the housing walls, this will replenish it enough to get it started. Make sure your map sensor is hooked up and working properly too.

i tested all the spark plugs and they are working. I just recently changed them so i think they are ok. Ill try the oil trick, how much exactly i need to put it and is it good to crank it few seconds with egi fuse off to spread the oil a bit or is it better to just try to start it straight away

Check my steps in the following thread:

https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/help-me-get-car-started-756952/

If those don't work, you have some issue with the work you did over the winter.

i generally just bump the engine over. If you crank it more then the oil will be spit out the plug holes. Also ive had my car flooded bad and even though my plugs seemed to be firing it still wouldnt start, but as soon as i put new plugs in it fired right up. Just my personal experience.

You might also take note of where it's firing on the plug make sure the spark is at the very tip of the plug, I had about 15 plugs i checked one day, most all of them had very low miles on them, but i had a problem with flooding due to my map sensor being wired wrong. Anyways only 4 out of the 15 were firing in the correct spot, a couple didnt fire at all, and most of them were firing way down low on the electrode. When i put the 4 that fired at the tip in it fired the car up instantly.

I had probably one of the worst flooding cases ever, it lasted a month or more and i kept thinking it was due to all the mods and the car needing tuned, the map sensor even checked out, but it happen to be incorrect wiring from my emanage to the PFC. After deflooding the engine (or attempting) probably well over 60 times, i can tell you new plugs will save you alot of time even if you think your old ones are ok.
