Question Help me out so i dont get rolled(3800 bucks each!!!!)

hey all, i recently took my car to a shop near buy, i gotta say seemes pretty legit. the guy i talked to didnt try and hustle me or any shi and he showed me all the stuff he did to his FD and lemme say it was beautiful. i dont have any problems with him its when i went inside and talked to another guy about pricing that i felt like i was about to be rolled. here is a list of some of the stuff i need done, if anyone knows an approx price range with or without service i would be very greatful.
primary turbo is shot so im gonna need to replace both but the guy is telling me it is 3,800 for each turbo there is no way that can be right. i have to have the break pads replaed thats only like 8- for parts then some labor thats not bad but i also have to replace the front driver side dshi i forgot what it was called, the suspension was messed up i dont remember the name of the piece but it is the triangular arm thet the strut goes thgough, it looks like a triangle that goes from the car to the wheel rotor. anyway he said that piece was 350 bucks i dont know i just need some advice and i wanted to see what everyone else had that all done for so responces would be appreciated.

the guy is trying to screw you...ask him again how much the turbos are. if he tells you that ***** a second time...dont ever go there again EVER.

you can do a full single conversion for about that kind of money..****..you could pull your motor and port it and also do a brand new set of turbos for that kind of money.

I paid 3k for my m2 upgraded ball bearing twins. http://m2performance.com/

I think pettit sells a new set of upgraded turbos for about that too (check their website for exact prices)...and thats for UPGRADED NEW TURBOS.

Mazda list price for BOTH turbos is about $3900.

Mazdacomp sells NEW turbos for $1950 or so, upgrade to the 99 ones for $2400 or so.

Installation is a PIA, I think the dealer wants about 1K to do the job of R+R'ing them. New Mazda turbos + installation would be $4900. Your guy wants $3800+3800+ installation? WOW.

Rebuilding a decent set of turbos is about $600-800 + parts (studs, nuts, gaskets, hoses) for installation.

You do the math based on what he told you. Turbos really only come as a set, not like a 300ZX TT where they are separate.

If you are in NYC their are plenty of rx7 shops in the area, Ito's, KDRotary etc that will give you an honest price etc. You're getting ripped.

Yeah that guy wants money. Turbojeff is right with all his prices, you might be able to find a nice pair on the forum for cheap. For 3800 you can get a single turbo!!!

To tear down and rebuild both turbos Tri Point charged $1500. To do that, tear down and rebuild the engine, and other small things plus labor was $7646.59. I'm not so good with math but that is around what this guy wants just for turbos. He's smokin something.

turbos

mazdamike- I just replaced my turbos. $3500 for brand new, not rebuilt, Mazda factory turbos (both), including the polish, blueprint and ceramic coating by Pettit Racing. Installation by Mazda dealer $500. Just a note- you may have a problem getting rebuilt turbos. There is a rebuild kit available, but if your old cores are cracked too much, you are not going to get a rebuild that will last for any amount of time. Any "rebuilt" turbos you purchase may have the same problem. Good, re-buildable cores are getting scarce.
