help me out?

Hi
I have a 93 rx-7 and while i was driving home the car started over revving when i accelerated and got steadily worse until the over rev was huge and the car hardly moving.
When i got back after about 5 mins grey smoke started coming from the engine.

Any ideas?

I'm going to say it's for sure your clutch. The smoke was, most likely, just comeing out of your clutch housing, at the rear of the engine and not from the engine itself. Get yourself a new clutch and your problem is solved!

A clutch will run you, depending on what type you get and who you get it from, around $500-$700. It's a little expensive but it is not something you want to try and ignore, it will only get worse until your car wont move at all. The over reving that you described, is it like when your on the gas with the clutch out the revs go up faster than your speed(when compared to normal), right? if so than yeah it's your clutch. Nothing major.

While you're at it get an ACT street/strip clutch (part # HD-00) and a lightweight flywheel. You'll love the changes it makes when driving your FD
