Talking help me on my next stage of modifications

hello! i have a few questions that i need answered before i make some orders-

right now my motor is being rebuilt and raceported with heavy duty seals-
so far my engine mods include= hks dual intake, 2 piece pulley kit, downpipe, midpipe, exhaust.

i am looking into ordering a pettit racing ecu and i need to know if ill have to upgrade my injectors with this modification, and if it needs a seperate boost controller. i would like 12lbs of boost. i plan on installing a larger stock mount intercooler soon and an efini y pipe. that is as far as i would like to go with engine mods for the time being until my turbos go out and then ill probably go with efini setup. also will i be able to pass smog in CA with the modded ecu? should i port my wastegate while the motor is being built?

You SHOULD port your wastegate for all these mods+a mp(boost creep is a bitch and will own you), and a ECU is even more important. I dont know much about Petit's ecus but Power FC's work well if you want to go in that direction.. Since your engine is ported you should upgrade your secondary injectors just to be safe(you dont want to run lean and pop a brand new engine). And you will never pass smog with that many mods(mp will never pass)...

i would go ahead and get a stand alone ECU. i would only upgrade the injectors if you are going to be running higher then stock boost.

You cant run upgraded injectors with any kind of chipped ECU.

If you do go with the Pettit ECU or something of the sort, you will need a boost controller of some sort to go along with it. I would get the wastegate ported for sure while everythings out. If you dont with a full exhaust you could potentially get boost creep/spikes. And as stated above, there is no way in hell you will ever pass any sort of emissons with a midpipe. I mean come on, what do you think will clean the exhaust up?

Ps. In the future use the search function, all of this info is readily avaliable with minimal searching. I mean ****, most, if not all of this is in the stickies.

That's not exactly true. A rechipped ECU is just that, a pre-programmed ECU. It is possible (and done over in Japan) to program an ECU (just like the PFC, Haltech or others) to have a map for larger injectors. Pettit has been contemplating supplying one for a while now.

However, the current USA based rechipped ECU's do not have support for larger injectors.

Yes thats true. Thanks for the clarification. I meant for the current pre-mapped ECU's for sale in the US.

don't forget to do the fuel pulsation dampener and clutch fork while everything is out. you'll wish you had when they break afterwards...

oh and maybe motor mounts either stock or gotham racing's urethane mounts.

thanks for all the feedback guys, the reason im not going with the pfc is the cost im spread out thin with money now after the motor work and i know i need some type of management, id even keep the 10 lb set up and the smaller injectors if need be and just plan on going with the pfc when i upgrade turbo. ill call the shop today and ask them to port my wastegate. i kept my stock exhaust system and cats and my smog pump for when smog time comes around, i was wondering if i would pass smog with those back on but with the modified ecu and hks dual intake and race ported motor. who should i talk to about going with a new fuel pulsation damper? and replace the clutch fork? i already upgraded my clutch and flywheel everything has been working fine ive been doing alot of hard driving and drifting. i think ill be needing a new diff here shortly tho. i bought a walboro fuel pump and was told not to put it on until i get management on my car or ill flood a seal or something is this true?

What are your goals? why spend money on a race port? Why dont you run a stock port motor, aftermarket ecu, full exhaust etc. then when emissions comes around you can put it back to stock and pass emissions?

You can do that easily on the stock fuel system with the Pettit ECU.
