FL Help me build out my RX-7

My house is getting closer to getting finished and I don't have any car payments. The wife has said I can spend some money on the 7, so this thread is here to address that...

Currently my car is full non-seq, stock port, PowerFC, 3" exhaust, M2 Large SMIC, Crooked Willow oil coolers, Fluidyne Radiator.

Plan on getting an Aspec 500R turbo with the 500R fuel system. I'm very interested in Meth Injection. The piping I have on my intercooler is already set up for that. I also want a wideband o2 for obvious reasons. Brakes and Wheels/Tires are already upgraded, as well as the suspension.

SO, back to the topic of the thread. Please give your input as to what methanol injection kit to get, if I need any upgraded ignition (such as HiPower or MSD) as well as wideband o2. As well as anything else in the engine bay that you think needs upgrading. I want to be able to purchase everything at once to make sure this is a smooth transition over to the single turbo.

Anyone? I know there are a lot of people on here besides vendors that can at least give some input on the thread...

It really depends on what your goal is for AI as to what kit to get and from whom. I'm studying myself and am convinced that AI is well worthwhile and will be my next modification.

Suggest first reading through EVERY sticky, then just scan the thread topics as I'm doing.

As others have said, the AI forum is the place to go. I too have been doing research as I will be using 50/50 with alcohol. There is a lot of great info.

As far as the rest of your build goes, from the looks of your power output with the 500R & Meth, I would ensure your pump setup is up to the task. If your going to be getting into the high 400's, I would run dual pumps.

Hey there Pete!

I really like my FJO AI system, especially since I can modulate the AI delivery with two different maps, and the injectors are very reliable.

I would do TWO calculations on the most AI you'll need based-upon the fuel-delivery of the 500R system.

One calculation for reliability only, that is, if it fails or runs out of AI, you're not detonating.
And a second calculation/map for using 50/50 meth/water as a FUEL (when you really want the BOOST).

I would then choose TWO AI injectors running at 90% of capacity, and wired in parallel as a nozzle fail-safe (separate relays, fuses, etc.) as the FJO can be setup this way. You can probably T-off the pump and do dual feeds and dual-filters to the AI nozzles.

I've been using a NEW front windshield reservoir with no problems for the last 6-months.

We should have lunch or GTG and you can check-out my setup.

I have a HKS Twin-Power and so far no issues when running straight distilled water.
