HELP: Intermittent rough starting
Here's the problem... About every 2-4 starts (although it can occur several starts in a row), the car starts up strangely. When it catches, it runs very rough at around 200-300 rpm for 3-4 seconds, runs less roughly for another 3-4 seconds up to 700 rpm, then is fine. Sometimes I get bluish smoke and sometimes not. It occurs when the car is cold or hot. Usually I get the smoke when it has the most problem getting to idle. The compression has been checked and it is getting almost exactly 75 psi on all 3 passes for both rotors. It reminds me very much of flooding, but why would it be intermittent? I was washing down the area around the battery 2 weeks ago before this happened, but that area is dry. It seems like it might be an intermittent stuck infector or something like that. Has anyone had something like this or have an idea?
Leaking fuel injector(s) might cause this behavior. Try some injector cleaner to see if it helps or stops the problem. I like NEO's Gasoline Fuel Additive product.
