Unhappy Help Idle Problem

To whom it may concern,
Hi I have a question about my idle problem. It all started about two months ago, I was havin a very rough idle at a complete stop and it would occassionally die and I would have to restart. I took it into the local mazda dealer and had them do a diagnostic on it and they did not find anything. While it was there, they changed the spark plugs and plug wires and the could not re-create the problem. The car ran strong up until now. I am now having the same idle problems while at a stop.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Cody German

There are quite a few threads on idle problems. Just try using the search, you'll find many areas to check. To get you started, here is a more recent thread:

If I'm reading the description correctly, you said the dealer changed plugs and wires then it ran strong until recently, is that correct? If so, then something is fouling up you plugs in a hurry.
When was the last time your fuel filter was changed?

If your a/f is too rich for extended periods of time it would foul the plug as well.
There aren't many ways a plug can be fouled besides too much fuel or bad fuel.

How long its been since the dealer replaced the plugs and wires? How many miles? You might have weak or failing coil(s), ignitor, grounds, ECU, or other electrical problems. Also, if your dealer installed OEM plug wires again, could they have failed already? Many Rex owners are using better quality after-market wires; Magnecore or MSD, but some report problems with MSD.
