Question Help! idle dips then revs.

every time i step on the gas the rpm will dip before it goes up. Is this normal? The idle is at 7000-8000 rpm when runing. It also dips before i take of in first gear. Any suggestions?

I think you mean 700-800rpm..It sounds like the clutch switch. Do a search on "clutch switch" and you will get lots of info on this topic.

yeah, it's probably the clutch switch. I used to have a problem of whenever driving, if I clutched in from above 3000 rpm, the revs would drop to about 500 rpm and then go back to 700-800 rpm. i replaced the upper clutch switch (there are 2, the primary one is engaged when the clutch pedal is totaly not pressed in, the secondary is engaged when the pedal is completely depressed, it is usually the primary one that goes out, not the secondary one). I found the primary was not even recovering to the original position (I think the spring on the inside of it was dead). So I replaced both the primary and secondary (replaced the secondary just for the hell of it).
I still had the problem for about 2 weeks later, but it went away after that, not sure if the new switches had to get calibrated in the ecu system of something, but have been driving the car for about 3 months now and have not had the rev problem since.
