Help diagnose fuel leak (pics)
I have a strong fuel smell right in the front of the passenger side of the uim. I moved some stuff around and ran the fuel pump w/the diagnose box... Well after prodding around for a while I think I can see some gas. I stuck some papertowel on a rod down on it and I am positive its gas... The pics arent the greatest but hopefully they will do.
I was thinking it was the FPD but isnt that in the rear of the uim... and the smell comes from the front not the rear. Is there anything else that could be leaking in that area?
-----> if it helps primaries were replaced ~10k miles ago FPD was replaced ~30k miles ago. Other than that I donno. Was done before I owned the car.
Thanks for any help,
Mitch

Replaced with new parts or used parts?
Buy the "fuel recall kit" and take off the UIM, coils and unbolt the solenoid rack leaving the fuel lines attached. Being VERY careful not to short anything jump the GND and F/P pins in the diagnosis connector this will turn on the fuel pump, it should be easier to indentify the leak.
If the injectors weren't properly installed you might have a pinched O-ring. If they were used they might leak due to age.

Im not sure about the injectors or if they were used parts... the prices on the reciept dont look like used parts lol...
What all is included in the fuel recall kit and what is the price? I got a quote from ray crowe today on a fpd for 115 do you think I should just go ahead and get it too? Its just hard for me to pull the uim etc.. because I cant leave it apart while I order the parts that need replacing.. dam daily driver I need another car lol.

Actually, unless I'm confused by the pic, that is the front secondary injector. Doesn't matter really; the cure is the same - you'll have to uncover the rails then run the fuel pump to pinpoint the source. Time consuming pita. If you haven't done it before, expect your car to be down for several weeks (depending on how much time you have to work on it), so you may want to find someone who works on rotaries in your area. Don't drive the car. Engine fires suck.
Edit: If you're lucky it might be the banjo fitting at the front end of the secondary fuel rail, in which case you might be able to torque that down and fix the problem without removing absolutely everything....
