Help with a couple of little niggling problems

Hi all first of all i have very little knowledge of rx7's and joined this forum hoping i can learn a lot more about these lovely cars.
The 2 problems i have is a idle problem when the car is not in gear and started up the idle racers not that high but its up and down as soon as i put my foot on the brake and put the car into drive (Automatic Rx7) it stops and idles perfect.
I have read through quite a few posts and today spoke to a rotary expert he told me to try and adjust the idle bleed screw and air bleed screw before trying to adjust the tps sensor.
Then thing is i am quite willing to have a go at doing these adjustments with the help of threads i have read on the forum and i am quite confident that i can do it , but the problem i have is locating these screws to adjust.
If possible has anybody got any pics of where the idle bleed and air bleed adjustments are and also the tps adjustments.

The other problem i have is an erratic rev counter which sometimes go's right up to 9 and sticks there i have been told that this is a electrical fault i was wondering if theres anything i can do to fix this myself or would i need an auto electrical guy to look at it.
I really hope somebody can help me with a few pics i would be very greatful as i am desperate to get my rx7 running problem free.
Thanks for reading
Gaz

dont change your idol just yet. what exactly is your idol reading? when its cold outside the aws automaticly raises the idol to about 3k or so then it slowly drops as the car warms up. is that what your experiencing?

Hi mate thanks for the reply but because my rev counter is goosed i am not sure the idle doesn't change if the car is cold or warm , it seems to be perfect but just races up then back down again it is never in danger of cutting out just drops back to what i would say is a perfect idle then races up a little and back down.
When the fan kicks in it idles up and down again and when the fan stops it idles ok when i put it in gear it also idles ok ?.

I have found out that the idle bleed screw is under the manifold is this correct also do you need to have the car on ramps to adjust it ?.
I have had a look on the net for some pics of where it is located with no joy , if anybody could post a link of a pic it would be very much apree
Thanks

I'm not sure, but I don't think that adjusting idle is quite that simple. I believe the idle speed is controlled by the ECU based on input from just about every system I can imagine, AC, power steering, transmission, manifold pressure, TPS, coolant temps, clutch switch/neutral switch etc.... Based on all this, the ECU controls the idle air control valve and AWS solenoid.

Simple put, I don't know of any simple idle adjustment screw, but there is a lot that I don't know about.

Your idle should increase with an electrical load (such as cooling fans) and increase some more if the AC is on. It believe it will also increase in an auto if you move it into gear from Neutral. If, OTOH, your idle is fluctuating otherwise, then it may be time to pull and test the Idle Air Control Valve and/or the AWS solenoid valve.

Get a copy of the FSM (pages F-81 to F-83 in the 1994 FSM) and see what you can find out.

check this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...18#post8143018

scroll about half way down the page...mahjik posted where the bleed screw is. i just did it and it was a breeze. use the one he sudgests...its right under your throttle cable attached to the throttle body.

use a small wrench to hold the small nut in place and just use a phillips screwdriver to wind the screw clockwise. might take 1-3 complete rotations to get he idol right where you want it
