Help on AEM BC Installation

Hi everyone.
I need a bit of help/suggestions.
I am installing an AEM Boost Controller.
While I was taking things out in the engine bay, I noticed a plug that is not plugged.
I recently had the turbos swapped for a better used set, so I don't know if this was left over by the mechanic. I can't see anything dangling loose, but I'll take some more pieces off later, when I am done with some parts of this installation.

Here you go:
1) Do you know what this plug is and what it does?
PLEASE NOTE: I am referring to the blue and orange plug in the background. The grey one in the foreground was damaged by me. I barely touched it and it is brittle and part of the plug that connects to the bracket broke. I'll fix that later.

2) I marked a spot in the engine bay in this picture. Would you think this is too hot to place the AEM solenoid, or is it going to be OK? If you have a better spot, could you elaborate on that?

3) Once the solenoid is placed, the wires will have to go along the fender and on the back of the firewall. Is there anything I can wrap the wires with to help keeping the heat down? Should I just wrap them in one of those corrugated split plastic hoses?

I hope you can give me a hand and I thank you very much ahead of time.

1. EGR

2. That would probably work, but I would probably try to find a location maybe near the ABS unit (at least that side on a US based car).

3. You can find heat shielding which will work or use some heat tape. Something like this:

Thank you Mahjik.

Two things, if you don't mind.

Should I re-plug the EGR in? The car did the emission test in these conditions and passed. Would anything be affected by it not being functional?

Regarding the placement of the solenoid, I read that the length of the hose should be kept to a minimum, hence the my intention of locating the solenoid there.
Wouldn't the hose be extremely long if I put it behind the ABS?
On the other hand, I was thinking about fabricating a little shield maybe, to avoid problems with heat... Any thoughts?
And thanks in advance.

You most likely don't have the electric version of the EGR for that plug. That was mainly a USA thing which I'm assuming your car is from Japan. Even then most USA cars don't use it.

As for the BC solenoid location, I don't think it being by the ABS would be that big of a deal. Most of us have mechanical boost gauges and don't really notice the length of the line running into the cabin. However as I mentioned, your location would work fine.

Thanks again.
My car is a Canadian car, not JDM. So my assumption is that the car is pretty much like the US version, therefore has the EGR. Sorry for not having specified that before.
I believe I read that the EGR was eliminated in US models after 93, so I imagine that it is not all that important that it is not working. The only thing I was wondering was whether or not this situation could affect any other reading and consequent behaviour of the ECU.

All FD's have an EGR. However, the difference is whether it's mechanical or electronic. The electronic version was for California based 93's and all 94 USA FD's. It was removed for all 95 USA FD's. If you don't have a CEL on, then you don't have the electronic version of the EGR (hence nothing to connect that blue connector too).

It's for emissions only anyway.
