Help adjusting rear alignment.....!!

Hey i finally got around to adjusting the rear camber today after riding around with severe negative camber for a while after changing out the springs. I got the car up, adjusted the cam nut such that the tires were level, however upon drivnig it the car tended to "fish tail" very badly even under small loads. However, the traction is significantly better from a stop. Here's my hypothesis for the cause of the problem:

THe camber adjustment is connected to the rear part of the wheel. I had to make such a drastic adjustment that i might have adjusted the toe of the rear wheels such that now the rear wheels have toe out or however you say it. Looking from the rear of the car it appears that the left rear tire is pointed in a direction to the left of the front left tire. and the right rear tire to the right of the right front tire

Another possibility is that the cam nuts were not adjusted to the same spot. I adjusted them such that the wheel was level, not such that the cam nut's were at the same tick mark. I believe the first is more likely but don't really know much about diagnosing alignments.

THanks for any suggestions!!!

I'll probably just go ahead and get a shop to do it, but i thought i'd give it a try myself first.

I do alignments all day at work, and trust me you can't do an alignment yourself...correctly.

When you adjust the camber the toe does change signifigantly. I suggest you take it to a good alignment shop and have them do a 4 wheel alignment.

My front sway bar mount is broken, so i can't have a 4 wheel done till i get a replacement mount. I was adjusting just the rear cuz i thought it would be easier without dealing with caster and significantly less complex than the front. I don't plan on adjusting the front. I would wait, but i might be heading to the drag strip before i get the replacement mount, and needed the the neutral camber for better traction

I guess i just wanted to verify that having a toe out settup would cause the steering to be all funky and cause the fish tailing i was experiencing

Your swaybar shouldn't effect your alignment.

you sure? everyone else has told me otherwise. I mean i know i can take it off and get it aligned, maybe thats what you mean. But i've been told with it on, but on crooked due to the broken mount, that it will affect the front alignment, but you seem to be the expert- I suppose i'll call a couple of local shops tomorrow and see what they say. I should have a mount soon though.

If its bent and pulling on the suspension then thats probably a different story. Let the guy doing the alignment decide.

If it wasn't bent or anything, it was just disconnected, it would have no effect on alignment
