Heater problem?
Heater problem?
I just bought my FD and its my frist one so I dont know that much about the cars. but my heater seems weaker than any other car I have driven in. To me that does not make sense because of how hot the engines get. Just wondering if somthing is wrong?
you have to download the manual, it a sticky post at the top of the main 3rd gen page. also get your coolent system flushed and filled so any crap (always some) that's in the heater core, which by the way is behind the dash, is flushed out and rendered clean. It hit a low of 27 where i live in texas, no heater. If you don't feel like printing out the 1500 pages or so of the manual, I have a few copys I printed out for my friends lying around
FD heaters were designed to provide HOT air only to the floor registers and the defroster vents. The face vents are specifically designed to have only cool or at most lukewarm air come from them, in an effort to keep the driver from becoming drowsy.
Something about one of the most high-performance cars every made for the masses needing an attentive, non-sleepy driver.....
On the other hand, the floor vents should be nuclear-hot.....IF the heater core is not plugged, a seemingly very common issue with this vintage of cars.
It is fairly easy to completey flush out the core, it is just time consuming. But a clean core WILL provide very intense heat.
