Cool headlights working in reverse

In all my years I have never seen anything like this. I did a couple of mods at the same time and when I put my battery back in my lights went up automatically but didnot come on. I performed the following mods:

Took off the power steering pump, reservoir, and lines.

Took off all airconditioning stuff to include compressor, condensor, reciever dryer, and all lines.

Took off air pump

Installed Greddy pulleys, alternator and water pump, with belt

INstalled XSPOWER 3x12x18 intercooler with hard pipes

Installed Optima red top battery

It is crazy because the car idles very rough. I just thought that was because of the new air flow rate and the leaning out of the fuel.

Now I think it is another problem, perhaps a ground that I may have taken off but cannot find to put back on. I am assuming that whatever I have done wrong will explain the crazy lights and the idle issue.

If the light switch is off, then the lights are up but not shining.
If I turn the lights on, then the lights start to shine but the retract back into the front clip. It is almost funny. In any event, if you know what the problem is, I will forever be in debt to you if you tell me what it is.

Peace,

Quid

As in any messup, look for damaged or disconnected wires near any place you did work.

you may want to check the ground strap behind the bumper cover .about right below the passenger headlight.it is one bolt that holds about 6 ground wires, if you pull on it ,it will come off. hope that helps.

Check the Headlight relay. It's possible something could have happened while you were taking off the A/C & P/S stuff

I had your symptoms and this was the same exact resolution... a white harness that hooks up the the front support, underneath where the bumper goes.

I have completely traced my steps and I unplugged all of the connectors and plugged them back in again. I still have the crazy lights and the idle. Those of you who have had this problem, can you recall exactly what was up and where the problen was? This truly sucks *** and I just want to drive my car. Thanks a lot.
