Headlight problem, they turn off when blinker is on

Title says it all
In the beginning of this problem, when the left turn signal is on the head lights would turn off (buckets would go down as well). The markers and dash lights would stay on. as soon as the blinker was off the lights came back on.
Now the headlights wont turn on at all, blinkers, markers and dash lights all work normally.
When I bought the car the tns relay was bad and I replaced it with a new Mazda unit, I had the blinker fuse blow as well.
I’m not sure where to start with this, strange as hell, any suggestions would be great
Anyway I appreciate you all taking the time to read and respond
David

btw car is a 1993 touring

any ideas at all?
im figuring that there is some sort of failure in the switch itself.
but was wondering if some one else had ever dealt with the problem?

I would pull the control lever off, take it apart, and clean all the connections.

Sometimes the contacts in the switch can build up carbon trails between themselves and cause current to be passed on. Its strange as you get all sorts of weird stuff happening. Clean it out and if all else fails try a different switch.
