Having problems with my fd

Just got my fd. I notice that when I floor it I can feel the boost at 4000 rpm but then the power seems to fade, also it has stock bov but it still real loud when i let off the gas. Is this normal?

Sounds like a boost problem. Do you have a boost gauge? Helps alot in diagnosing the problem. And please give more details such as mods and actually anything you know about the car.

First thing you need is a boost gauge to make sure that the car is maintaining boost pressure at high RPM. Second, the stock B.O.V. releases air back to the air box via a black rubber hose. Typically, you cannot hear the B.O.V. unless that hose is unplugged. It's not going to matter about this hose unless the noise bothers you.

Hmm, does this 'fade' occur right at 4500rpm?

If you don't want to buy a boost gauge, at least borrow/buy a cheap pressure/vacuum gauge and some rubber line at Autozone. It'll be about $20 and useful for other things. If you get an Autometer boost gauge you're looking at maybe $40.

Then, if the boost gauge confirms that at 4500 the boost goes way down, it seems you have a secondary boost problem. Go to http://www.autosportracetech.com/RX-...leshooting.htm and follow that info.

Check the FAQ sticky thread at the top of the forum. It should tell about the standard 10-8-10 boost pattern and the 3rd gear test.
