not to sound angry but this whole web sight sounds like its dedicated to the problems with the rx7. Scrolling through the forums really depresses me as to how crappy they are. I was considering buying one until a friend directed me to this forum. My GT has had no problems whatsoever after consistantly driven hard.

Dude, just stop posting about the reliability of the rotary.

You're original post wasn't about that anyway, so to answer your original question...your Mustang will get schooled by an FD, day in day out. Leave it at that and don't bring other issues into play to try to justify you buying a slower car.

Don't start getting defensive homez. You asked if the FD can beat a GT, and oyu got your answer. Whats the point of bringing up reliability?

No offense, but I don't think anyone really cares why you got a GT instead of a 7.

As for the reliability, I'm sure your GT is more reliable then alot of the FDs here, but I think that its unreliability is somewhat exaggerated on the forum.

first off, most of the other post-ers are right. you asked whether or not a GT could beat an FD. they answered you and you don't like the answer? that's like taking a dump and getting pissed that you clogged the toilet.

secondly, yes, there have been some horror stories concerning reliability with rotaries. that's also the same case with some of these 5.0 V-8's. likewise, they're have been some gems out there ... on both sides. with that in mind, your GT is brand spankin' new. OF COURSE you haven't had any problems with it yet. FD's are at least 7 years older ... wear and tear, and the fact that they operate in only 2 speeds, fast and VERY f**kin' fast ... they take their toll on a car. i've seen my fair share of 5.0's and Cobra's billowing smoke out the tail and lurching out of stoplights.

i suggest instead of instigating large posts that amount to nothing that you go out and find a fairly well-maintained FD and take it for a test drive. (learn what forced induction feels like @ 6500rpm) don't knock it 'til you tried it.

lilTokyo2, people only post problems on this board in order to find a solution. You will rarely see someone post something along the lines of "Hey, my car runs sooooo great". then we'd get posts everyday, on the same subject.

If we had posts from things going right, then the thread count would be enormous. Dont think that just bc you only read about bad things, thats the only thing happening.

Then Don't get a 7 dude, your loss.........And as for your Question "If we have ever beatin a mustang?" HELL *****-****** YEAH !!!! I'm not the fastest Rx-7 in the world but to this day I'm still undefeated against mustangs, at the Illegals and at race events..... and yes, most of them were modded too !!

Dude, i hosed this guys 99 Mustang in my Stock 12a FB. Granted, it was the base version and he was a crap driver. Ive also got 142,00 miles on my engine and its going strong, NO REBUILDS. I think that counts as fairly reliable. My friend has a FD. Its been VERY reliable for him too. He has 160,000 on the engine. I also know a dude with an FC that has over 240,000 miles on the car. Come on, you cant say that the RX-7 is an ureliable car, the facts prove otherwise.

The problem is there are not many shops that will work on a rx7 so if someone does have problems the go to the forum for answers.

Thats why there are soooo many questions. I'm sure if there was a Stang forum dedicated only to 95 and older Stangs it would be similar.

Not to mention that most everyone here has thier cars modded and drive the hell out of them all the times.

There is a wealth of knowledge and support here that other car owners could only wish for.

Any yes to answer your question, a 7 with intake, full exhaust and a computer upgrade will destroy a run of the mill supercharger Stang.

Later,
STEPHEN

i drive a 2001 SVT cobra Vert, and it is faster than the FD that i owned, but only because the FD wasnt running perfect, and the cobra had better tires, also a good running FD will own a cobra especially with that damn traction control, im selling the cobra to buy an FD

dude u cant just come on this forum and start talking **** about the rotary engines, i fell in love with the rotary last yr when my friend took me out in his T2 and told me what the heck rotary meant, ever since i stopped modding my last car and now im working on a project rx7 (track only), also IMO ford sucks, the trucks dont have power worth a **** my old chevy 350 killed thos POS and even killed the base v6's. i personally hate ford, the only ones i can respect are the ford cobra and lightning plus any of the SVT because those are nowhere near the crap they normally put out. sorry if i offended anybody driving a ford except for the original poster of this forum (he can kiss my *** whilst he ***** himself) but its my own opinion on ford and im sure they are nice cars for the most part but u dont see everybody going out and buying a ford for track use do you now. just race one and i garunted you your dick will swivel up so small youll start gagging on it

Instead, you should ask
Who has not beaten a mustang in a race?

A GT, that is pretty funny. I know a few Jackson racing supercharged Civics that could waste a GT.

The only Mustang that could hang with an FD is the new SVT Cobra, and I can't imagine that beasty handling too well.

Now that being said, and also that I don't like Fords, I hope people realize Ford has 40% (or more now) controlling stock of Mazda. I thought the rotary was dead for sure. So at least from me, I commend Ford on allowing Mazda to still express their devotion to the Rotary in the RX-8.

I have gotten into it with the newer '00 &'01 SVT stang lots but Thre is this guy that lives 3 streets down from me. He looks like he is in his early 40's. I see him ll the time everytime I see him when I'm in my 7 he wants a go. The first time was the best. He gets in behind me on a sort of windy road. I noticed him right off my bumper. There was a car in front of me so I jsut cruised in 4th at about 50-60 mph. When the car in front of me turned off the SVT got on his throttle bumping at me to go . You know the routine. I stepped on the throttle and boosted it up to 12lpds. I climbed on him like crazy about 5-6 car lenghts.
I braked and let him think he was going to get a pass. Then as soon as he tries for the other lane I'd boost her again. Pretty much the same results. We did this about 10 miles all the way back to my street. I see him all the time now . I still have yet to see him smile or wave..

Rotary engine is fine when maintaned properly BTW.
Lets see some 9 year old 5.0s with out some problems from time to time.

A friend of mine owns a 2000 GT. Last time I saw him, I walked him pretty easily ... and that was when neither of my turbos were working.

My dad owns a 98 GT and that thing's so slow it makes me sick. He thinks he's so fast, but when we're cruising around and ricey Hondas want to race him, I always tell him not to race, because I'm worried he'll lose and I don't want to shatter his delusions about his car's capabilities.
