have you ever beat a mustang?

I was just wondering If any of you have beaten a mustang GT or porshe in a race. I dont own an Rx7 but I heard stories that they are fast. But I really doubt they could beat a new mustang GT...since I own one..hehe. Any let me know what kind of cars you have raced and I dont mean just hondas!

RedR1 02-23-02 01:20 AM

I've raced a Stang' GT from a roll (50-130) and seemed to pull quite well on him. Dunno if he gave up or not, bc it was only one go (also dunno if he was stock or not, but its pretty safe to say he was). I tend to not race as much as i used to bc of a recent accident that caused my insurance to skyrocket out the ass.

hehe, this thread is just aching to get sent into the kills section after a few more posts :)

Saintdog 02-23-02 01:21 AM

I did a freeway race against a 99 Cobra and he hung with me???

QuIcKSiLvEr 02-23-02 02:04 AM

Is this for real? It reminds me of that "FastAndFurious" guy that posted this kinda crap hehe.. :D

You sound like a troll...

Anyway stock for stock, all Mustang GT's have tested slower than stock FD's including yours. From supercars.net, your 260hp GT is rated at 5.9s 0-60 and 14.5 in the 1/4. See it HERE They have the FD listed at 4.9/13.5 for comparison.

Your car is rated at just 5 more hp but weighs a whopping 400+ pounds more. Looks like even stock Honda S2000's could outrun you :p:

evot23 02-23-02 08:18 AM

A mustang GT? Who hasn't beaten that thing?

As for the Porsche...what model...lots of Porsche's out there some really really fast.

Beaten Boxster's and the S models...never had the opportunity to race anything higher than that.

Of course, my car is no longer stock.:D

frank69m 02-23-02 10:34 AM

This guy sounds like a former Honda Civic Ricer who just bought a faster car.

In any case, litltokyo2, why don't you try to drive fast down a nice curved road and we will see who sits in the ditch. Remember, FORD = Found on Road Dead
and Ford has junk Quality. I had a 91 5.0 and I had to change the Radiator overflow after 25K miles, then at 30K miles, the Radiator. Don't forget about the new 2002 Explorer and it's pedal that falls out....He he...like I said, found on road dead.

brads 02-23-02 10:54 AM

mustang GT...what are you kidding me?and i even own a automatic. ive yet to lose to a mustang yet including a couple of newer model cobras.

itradem 02-23-02 11:14 AM

I own both a 94 FD, and a 2001 GT. The FD is faster... hands down. Good top end pull on the GT, but the only way you'll lose is if you mess up your launch with the FD... or your FD is not running properly.

Street King 02-23-02 11:20 AM

I can't believe I even read this!!!! The GT's are getting better every year but it still doesnt compare to an FD(stock). Ive raced plenty of GT's enough to know not to race 1 unless its modded. GT's can hang for the first 4 sec but after that its all car lengths!!!!

417RX7 02-23-02 11:21 AM

I punched it with a newer 911 Turbo in my stock FD and at about 70 mph he was leaving me behind on the highway like I was just cruising and not even racing. It is sad to see a car walk away that quick when you have the pedal all the way to the floor, But it was cool to get a old guy and his lady to show me what his porsche could do. god I want one.

WHO 02-23-02 01:29 PM

You can not ask such a question here and gain respect... of course we beat Mustangs... again and again!
It comes to a point where you even refuse to race them cause it's a waste of gas.

I have beaten a 2000 Porshe Carrerra, non-turbo though, on the track. By track I mean solo racing. The guy even managed to spin his electronically controlled Porsche, it WS raining though... but I didn't spin mine I guess maybe the driver sucked so maybe he could've stayed with me but oh well... I beat him :)

Brent Dalton 02-23-02 10:56 PM

Is the pope catholic?.....of course I've beaten a mustang...as for porsche's....never had a chance to race anything besides boxsters(which I beat) and I guy with a 944 turbo.

Pressurized 02-23-02 11:27 PM

Hell No!!!! Damn man, Mustangs are sooo fast, especially GT's!! I raced one with flowmasters once...damn he left me by about 4 car lenghts:eek:

I wish I had a Mustang....

jspecracer7 02-24-02 12:49 AM

I think the n/a FC3S, when well tuned, is a good match for a mustang GT. My FD will DESTROY a stock or mildly modified GT. I should be in the high 200's, or low 300 hp range, so there's no way that a car that ways 400 lbs. more will walk away from me...

...maybe I should also mention that my interior is GUTTED...the carpeting is HEAVY

Dan 02-24-02 01:34 AM

hey pressurized ur kiddin right?

litltokyo2 02-24-02 02:11 AM

No I repect the rx7 alot as a racer, but I definitely would not buy one because they are notorious for their unreliablity and everyone i asked said rotory engines are junk. thanks but ill stick with pistons!!

mustangs....can be easily beat, the most fun beating them is in an old school rotary like an rx2 or rx3....most of them dont even know what the hell just beat them, and they will race light after light, get beat light after light...just because they cant believe a car they dont even know what it is has just whooped them. !!!

zro_piston 02-24-02 08:13 AM

Ford = F***er Only Runs Downhill
or, if you put it backwards:
Ford = Driver Returns On Foot

Uneducated public opinion on the rotary. Everybody and their brother says that rotaries are crap. It's a shame to see someone make such blatant remarks about something they have no experience (or knowledge for that matter) with. I have NEVER had ANY problems with my FD, even with 90,000 + miles on it on the original motor!!!!! (knock on wood ;) )

Just remember, guy, it is better to be rotary than to pist-on!

Brian_93 02-24-02 10:25 AM

I ran my Friends 97 Cobra with headers, intake and full exhaust on slicks, and pulled him nasty on 8 pounds of boost.

:D

fast13b 02-24-02 10:36 AM

RX7 = Extension of the driver
Mustang = Extension of the penis

I've had the pleasure of driving a 98 Saleen Cobra for the last month while my FC is broken (thanks Barry! :) ) and while yes it is an AWESOME car my TII would dust it any time anywhere...

frank69m 02-24-02 11:21 AM

Actually, I forgot to mention this funny story. I told everyone that I had a 5.0 back in the early 90's. Now one of my cars is an FD. In any case, I remember about 8 or 9 years ago, I was driving around in my 5.0 (slightly mod) and I came across a 1st Generation RX7. I said to myself, I'll walk him easily. We came to a light and when it turned green, we took off. I got the jump the first 2 seconds and then he walked me without looking back. Man, to this date, I said, holy crap.....what the heck kind of engine did he have underneath there.....now I know and why do you think I have an FD.....heee....true story!

litltokyo2 02-24-02 12:02 PM

not to sound angry but this whole web sight sounds like its dedicated to the problems with the rx7. Scrolling through the forums really depresses me as to how crappy they are. I was considering buying one until a friend directed me to this forum. My GT has had no problems whatsoever after consistantly driven hard.

Decay 02-24-02 12:36 PM

Dude, just stop posting about the reliability of the rotary.

You're original post wasn't about that anyway, so to answer your original question...your Mustang will get schooled by an FD, day in day out. Leave it at that and don't bring other issues into play to try to justify you buying a slower car.

Zoomspeed 02-24-02 03:35 PM

Don't start getting defensive homez. You asked if the FD can beat a GT, and oyu got your answer. Whats the point of bringing up reliability?

No offense, but I don't think anyone really cares why you got a GT instead of a 7.

As for the reliability, I'm sure your GT is more reliable then alot of the FDs here, but I think that its unreliability is somewhat exaggerated on the forum.

first off, most of the other post-ers are right. you asked whether or not a GT could beat an FD. they answered you and you don't like the answer? that's like taking a dump and getting pissed that you clogged the toilet.

secondly, yes, there have been some horror stories concerning reliability with rotaries. that's also the same case with some of these 5.0 V-8's. likewise, they're have been some gems out there ... on both sides. with that in mind, your GT is brand spankin' new. OF COURSE you haven't had any problems with it yet. FD's are at least 7 years older ... wear and tear, and the fact that they operate in only 2 speeds, fast and VERY f**kin' fast ... they take their toll on a car. i've seen my fair share of 5.0's and Cobra's billowing smoke out the tail and lurching out of stoplights.

i suggest instead of instigating large posts that amount to nothing that you go out and find a fairly well-maintained FD and take it for a test drive. (learn what forced induction feels like @ 6500rpm) don't knock it 'til you tried it. :)

Dont_Be_A_Rikki 02-24-02 04:17 PM

YEAH !!! HA!HA!HA!

STANG ARE SLOW! never ever lost to a stang dude sell your 5.slow and get a fd already!:wtf: :dragster: :uzi: :flipoff: :flipoff: :flipoff: :titty:

Gizmo 02-24-02 04:57 PM

thanks litltokyo2, since Mr.Akimoto and Eric ++++++++ left the forum, we havnt had a punk to make us laught

RedR1 02-24-02 05:03 PM

lilTokyo2, people only post problems on this board in order to find a solution. You will rarely see someone post something along the lines of "Hey, my car runs sooooo great". then we'd get posts everyday, on the same subject.

If we had posts from things going right, then the thread count would be enormous. Dont think that just bc you only read about bad things, thats the only thing happening.

Then Don't get a 7 dude, your loss.........And as for your Question "If we have ever beatin a mustang?" HELL MUTHA-FUCKIN YEAH !!!! I'm not the fastest Rx-7 in the world but to this day I'm still undefeated against mustangs, at the Illegals and at race events..... and yes, most of them were modded too !!

carlukok 02-24-02 05:58 PM

Probe auto?

I wont even ask about my Probe then?? .............. just kidding....... like to see people get reailled up on a sunday, beat on the Ford guy!

TheAMAZINGNorad 02-24-02 06:49 PM

Dude, i hosed this guys 99 Mustang in my Stock 12a FB. Granted, it was the base version and he was a crap driver. Ive also got 142,00 miles on my engine and its going strong, NO REBUILDS. I think that counts as fairly reliable. My friend has a FD. Its been VERY reliable for him too. He has 160,000 on the engine. I also know a dude with an FC that has over 240,000 miles on the car. Come on, you cant say that the RX-7 is an ureliable car, the facts prove otherwise.

SPOautos 02-24-02 07:49 PM

The problem is there are not many shops that will work on a rx7 so if someone does have problems the go to the forum for answers.

Thats why there are soooo many questions. I'm sure if there was a Stang forum dedicated only to 95 and older Stangs it would be similar.

Not to mention that most everyone here has thier cars modded and drive the hell out of them all the times.

There is a wealth of knowledge and support here that other car owners could only wish for.

Any yes to answer your question, a 7 with intake, full exhaust and a computer upgrade will destroy a run of the mill supercharger Stang.

Later,
STEPHEN

viper966 02-24-02 08:19 PM

i drive a 2001 SVT cobra Vert, and it is faster than the FD that i owned, but only because the FD wasnt running perfect, and the cobra had better tires, also a good running FD will own a cobra especially with that damn traction control, im selling the cobra to buy an FD

litltokyo2 02-24-02 08:29 PM

RX7-2JOCK is that your RX7? If so its a BAD ASS car, theres no denying that!

dude u cant just come on this forum and start talking shit about the rotary engines, i fell in love with the rotary last yr when my friend took me out in his T2 and told me what the heck rotary meant, ever since i stopped modding my last car and now im working on a project rx7 (track only), also IMO ford sucks, the trucks dont have power worth a shit my old chevy 350 killed thos POS and even killed the base v6's. i personally hate ford, the only ones i can respect are the ford cobra and lightning plus any of the SVT because those are nowhere near the crap they normally put out. sorry if i offended anybody driving a ford except for the original poster of this forum (he can kiss my ass whilst he fucks himself) but its my own opinion on ford and im sure they are nice cars for the most part but u dont see everybody going out and buying a ford for track use do you now. just race one and i garunted you your dick will swivel up so small youll start gagging on it

the_glass_man 08-11-02 12:30 AM

I think the real question should be, have you ever beat your meat???

SiKoPaThX 08-11-02 02:57 AM

Wow thats reallytweird. I've never beaten a mustang before. Wow you guys are amazing....

P shit, wait a second thats right. I've never wasted my time on one oops thats it nevermind thanks for the laugh though!

Kraziken 08-11-02 04:16 AM

A GT, that is pretty funny. I know a few Jackson racing supercharged Civics that could waste a GT.

The only Mustang that could hang with an FD is the new SVT Cobra, and I can't imagine that beasty handling too well.

Now that being said, and also that I don't like Fords, I hope people realize Ford has 40% (or more now) controlling stock of Mazda. I thought the rotary was dead for sure. So at least from me, I commend Ford on allowing Mazda to still express their devotion to the Rotary in the RX-8.

Fd3BOOST 08-11-02 07:27 AM

I have gotten into it with the newer '00 &'01 SVT stang lots but Thre is this guy that lives 3 streets down from me. He looks like he is in his early 40's. I see him ll the time everytime I see him when I'm in my 7 he wants a go. The first time was the best. He gets in behind me on a sort of windy road. I noticed him right off my bumper. There was a car in front of me so I jsut cruised in 4th at about 50-60 mph. When the car in front of me turned off the SVT got on his throttle bumping at me to go . You know the routine. I stepped on the throttle and boosted it up to 12lpds. I climbed on him like crazy about 5-6 car lenghts.
I braked and let him think he was going to get a pass. Then as soon as he tries for the other lane I'd boost her again. Pretty much the same results. We did this about 10 miles all the way back to my street. I see him all the time now . I still have yet to see him smile or wave..

Rotary engine is fine when maintaned properly BTW.
Lets see some 9 year old 5.0s with out some problems from time to time.

Javamancer 08-11-02 09:59 AM

A friend of mine owns a 2000 GT. Last time I saw him, I walked him pretty easily ... and that was when neither of my turbos were working.

My dad owns a 98 GT and that thing's so slow it makes me sick. He thinks he's so fast, but when we're cruising around and ricey Hondas want to race him, I always tell him not to race, because I'm worried he'll lose and I don't want to shatter his delusions about his car's capabilities.
