Has anyone ran a Kakimoto catback with a Tomei midpipe?

I'm having back pressure issues so its time for the catalytic converter to go, looking for a Tomei midpipe to replace it and just wanted to see if anyone else has done this and how it went. Running a Kakimoto catback and I don't want to replace it.

I'm thinking about also just getting the kakimoto center pipe since it will be the same brand as my catback so if anyone has info on those that would be appreciated.

Not sure what your “back pressure issues” are, but if you’re still running the stock twins there are a couple things you should know before removing the cat….

*Two little back pressure and you will experience boost CREEP. That is an overboost situation that can cause a lean condition. And that can cost you an engine. It cannot be avoided with a boost controller. You can port the internal wastegate on the twins (which requires their removal), or leave your cat where it’s at. A quality hi-flow cat is also a common option.

*Without a cat your exhaust will stink, badly…to the point of making eyes water. It will also be louder. How much depends on your cat-back.And I’m not familiar with Kakimoto.

Edit: I just looked up info on the Tomei midpipe and it does look to be resonated to some extent. So not being just a straight pipe it probably offers at least some back pressure. Enough to avoid overwhelming the wastegate??? Maybe. But you’ll still have to deal with the smell.

you can make/use an exhaust gasket with an undersize center hole to add sufficient b-p for preventing that
