Has anyone ever used this wing for their Rx7?

My car currently doesn't have a wing but I've always wanted one so.... I did some shopping around and it seems like the Aeromotions S2 wing is probably one of the best pieces money can buy.

You can see the wing itself here:

AEROMOTIONS » S Series

I did a search and I couldn't find anything or anyone that has ever used this wing on their Rx7 but it seems like the GTR, porsche, and 350z guys really enjoy this product.

So has anyone ever used this wing on their car? If so, how does it compare to other wings? Also, what width did you go with? I know it's expensive but I really enjoy the looks and how advanced the wing is but would like some more feedback from the Rx7 guys before I start pulling any triggers.

Judging by their description, they are playing off certain aspects of different designs from actual functional spoilers....

and its not very attractive and doesn't look functional. The stands look too small to support any real weight by downforce

I'm pretty sure this wing is already "track tested" and shown to function:

And here's the data with an overlay showing the wing in "static" position (like a normal wing) versus the "active" mode:

^ Seems like the "active" wing shaved a full second and 1/4 off the lap time.

Aeromotions has made it onto some of the fastest Time Attack cars around the world. Very simple aerodynamics..... Maximum downforce with minimum drag. What 90% of people don't understand about ANY wing, is shape isn't all that matters.... Cord size is arguably the most important aspect to generating downforce, next to angle of incidence....

Don't be the guy who buys a rear wing because it "looks good" if you're serious about the performance of the piece, as opposed to just wanting to rice out the car, do your research.

Aeromotions is part of the 1% that actually wind tunnels their pieces and trickle down to the "off the shelf" aftermarket. Great product and the cost reflects that. Their fully functional active wing is around $12k if memory serves.

Not to be a flamer, but please don't ever comment on aerodynamics again. Pointing people in the wrong direction based on misinformation is the same as punching them in the face while banging their wife. Not Cool!

Which motorsports programs allow aftermarket dynamic wings? This is an automatic no for autocross.

I never told anyone to look else where.... I made a comment based on an opinion.

I've told people their babies look ugly (in a joking manner)..... but do i punch them in the face to try and fix it? Nope.

The higher level NASA classes allow open aerodynamics. As well as most Time Trial formats.

If you are seriously competitive in Time Trials like in NASA, I can only see it being a benefit. However, that would be after you have everything else done and you are looking for that next 1/2 second. Outside of that, I don't think it will be worth the cost (nor will it look cool cruising on the highway with it installed).

This!

Spend $1500 on some driver coaching, and I promise you it will find more time on track than any aerodynamic developments....

Most track cars can also benefit from a proper suspension dial in more so than more power or aerodynamics.

That is nearly a nine thousand dollar rear wing.

If I were to spend $9,000.00 on my FD, it would not be on the rear wing alone.

$1000 max on a wing, then spend your remaining ~$8000.00 on big brakes, carbon fiber doors & interior, ultra light seats, fuel cell, wheels..

There are many, many more places to look on the car to get as much/much more performance and reduced lap times than bolting 9 grand to your rear hatch.

Unless your car is already NASA/IMSA SPa spec thing and this is the final part you want to bolt on something that is an all out, every-tenth-second-counts machine.

Since we're on the topic of wings. Does anyone know the length of the RE Amemiya Wing?

I stand corrected; Brent is correct with regards to NASA:

Code:
2) Aerodynamic modifications are unrestricted with the following exceptions:
a.) Active aerodynamic modifications (including, but not limited to, computerized,
cockpit adjustable, self adjusting, etc.) are not permitted.

My buddy had one on his FD. He mounted it the wrong direction and flew away. I haven't seen him since.
