Has anyone been able to use Hard Intake Pipes with a stock or other airbox?!

Probably more like almost 2" combined (with more on the shorter primary turbo side), at least for me. One inch of lateral engine movement? Better look at replacing your engine mounts soon...

I replaced my factory intake pipes when the smaller of the 2 had collapsed on me.

Got the pipes in today and installed them! They fit perfectly! I am psyched!

I wish I had known from the start. You read these posts that say nothing about fitment with the stock box and all vendors say that their pipes fit the stock box too. I wish the description had said something like "the only pipes that will fit the stock air box" that way I would have saved my time and money from the start.

The RX7store pipes are the only ones that fit!

Thank you Jason. Your products and service kick ***!

Yes I am. Stock box with drop in K&N, vented bottom and a heat shield/duct.

Ok, I think that explains why the hard pipes work with yours and not mine. In examining why the pipe won't fit, the angle of both bends (the ones that are ~90 degrees from one another) it seems that they both need to be sharper...closer to 90 degrees themselves. It's tough to explain...I need to get me a mandrel bender

Yeah, most of the other vendor's hard pipes have a mandrel bend that totally throws the fitment angles off for us guys running the stock air box. Seems like the non-RX7store pipes won't work for the cold air intakes either...

The pipes from gotham and ebay are great for those running open intakes. stick some k&n filters on there and they are perfect. Getting those pipes to fit with a box seems tricky....

Only thing is, these pipes aren't anything special. Any metal pipes would be just fine, so I would love to be able to get the cheap Ebay pipes to work. The ones from RX7store are rediculous. Doesn't make sense to pay all that money for those pipes, and you still have a stock intake. Might as well dish out the money for a GOOD CAI.

I know what you mean. That is why I started out with the ebay pipes. It depends on what intake you are using. If you are going with an open intake, I'd get the ebay pipes and locate a couple of K&N filters with a 2.5" opening and you've got a nice intake for ~ $100. Add a home made heat shield like Damian's and you're in buziness.

However, if you have a stock or aftermarket CAI like the M2 or Rotary Extreme you may still need pipes. Remember the stock rubber air intake pipes can split over time, which was my problem. If yours are good, then no problem. I just don't feel like spending $450 for a CAI and then still need to buy pipes.

Kinda sucks eh.

Skip the mandrel bender. Won't work for these angles.

That might explain why the pipe is welded. Well, in any event, i need a pipe that fits.

I was just looking at your pics. The RX7store pipes may fit your need. Why don't you call Jason and check? In the long run its probably worth it rather than having to check it regularly to see if the damn pipe is still attached.

I beg to differ. I had my lower intake hose collapse after I turned up the boost to 12.5 PSI. After fixing that, I had my lower IC hose split open at the seam soon after.

I'd check into the driver's side engine mount to see if it's broken---I had the same problem with the belt rubbing into my pipes. Even with the safety strap on a broken mount, the engine still torques enough under load to hit the pipes.
