Hard Wire you hotlap timer - catching up on writeups part 5
An another catch up thread :-) ...another mod that was done over the winter.
I HATED haveing to change the friggin battery in teh hotplap reciever in my car, you hd to unscre the box to get to the battery!! what a PIA!!!
So I decided to hardwire it to the car, and if you want to do the same, here is what you need to do:
Open up the box where your 9v battery sits and clip off the connector. Buy a 9v DC power adapter from radio shack like you see in this picture:
Then open up the power adapter, remove the sigaret lighter parts and solder extention wires to the power and ground entry points, then connect those permanetly to the power and ground on the car.
Now clip the 9v power adapter output wires and solder them to the proper wires on the hotlap 9v batter connector wires (you should have clipped the battery connector off already).
You can use some heatshrink and a grommet yo make it look cute like this:
It may pick up noise when you start the car and log laps, but it should not affect lap times when you clear it out before a session. Mine does that but I just clear it before the events, I even tried a power filter but it didnt help the starting-log laps, issue.
