hard pipe intakes (dealing with heat soak)

i've read through a few threads about these hard pipes before and never saw this topic thoroughly dealt with. i know there are some flow benefits involving a nice smooth bending pipe instead of the accordian pipes but then you have to deal with the extra heat soak... could you ceramicoat the pipes? header wrap? i know it kinda gets rid of the "bling" factor, but would it help with the flow benefits without adding more heat issues?

Yes, the pipes will get warm. No, the air temperatures won't be affected. The air is just moving too damn fast to affect intake air temps to any significant degree.

Draw cool air into the system, have an efficient intercooler, and that will take care of intake temps.

Exactly, I have hard pipes ( ebay ones ) never had a problem with heat soak. But of course I have a massive SMIC. But its definitely a non issue in my mind.

Yes they heat soak, and with a heat soaked smic, will preheat intake air with modest throttle use.

That's y I sold my hard pipes, and found light, elastomeric. full bore hose that would take the heat and not buckle with vacuum ... and not heat soak.

Find my postings /part #'s at the ciriani site .... mcmaster carr hose for intake. about $30 , Shown here:

you could always coat the inside with a ceramic based paint if your worried about the bling factor.
