Sounds like herpes.

As for the blown engine... did you have any sort of datalogging? What setup/boost are you running?

Thanks for the replies. I'm just outside of Memphis. I have no data logger or wideband. That will be installed with the new engine. I run a power fc on a reman engine ,stock turbos 12lbs of boost, fmic, twin power, walbro pump, stock injectors, full exhaust with resonated midpipe. I am wondering if I had a 3 piece apex seal reman engine, and that could have been the cause of failure. I will know in a few days depending on my work schedule.

my reman with two piece seals popped when I barely even boosted....screw that noise, I went with a professionally rebuilt motor and OEM 3 mm seals...it's since detonated at about 17 psi but kept right on going, I'm sold on 3 mm

Cool air and no wide band to monitor, you might have went toooo lean and maybe spiked the boost level.
Everything stock?

Stock ports, stock turbos, fmic, power fc, hks twin power, hks intake, greddy elbow. I looked at the commander after it happened and it said inj. duty high 92%. At this point I guess it doesn't matter why, as long as I install a wideband and AI. I just read the post about new engines from Malloy https://www.rx7club.com/west-rx-7-forum-193/13b-rews-sale-all-new-792684/. I think I will call him Tuesday and see if he has any left.

Im in TN, and I can build you a pretty crazy engine for the price of those new ones, with no core charge. However, I wont deny those new ones are pretty damn good deals if he has any left.

I can build you one with ALS seals, new rotor housings, perfect used rotors, good condition irons, new side seals springs, new apex seal springs, new corner seals and corner seal springs, rebuilt oil pump, and some more new stuff for a decent bit less than those. Either way I will send you a pm with details.
