hand brake outer removal

i'm just installing a new momo hand brake handle , I cant seem to get the outer rubber plastic outer part off. anyone know how to do this? ( yes searched )

I think you need to cut the outer part off.

No, that does not come off....unless you cut it off like the guy above said.

Some people have successfully heated it with a heat gun and removed it. This did not work for me and I had to cut it off.

I used a heat gun to remove mine, u gotta twist and pull on it pretty good, but eventually it will come off. i could even re-use mine if needed.
