Hand brake grip removal?
Hand brake grip removal?
This maybe a stupid question but i can't seem to figure out how to change the hand grip for the E-Brake. Mines stock and its starting to fall part so i would like to change it can someone tell me how to take just that part off or do i have to swap the whole assembly
Its glued on, If you try 2 flat head screwdrivers from the back end of the grip and slide them up and then work your way around you might have some luck.
I first use the above method and oil and could not get it off, so i made a slit under the grip [ if i ever wanted to glue it back on ] and it peeled right off.
and replaced it with a nice red alloy momo grip.
If that any help Ian.

the handle is like the tightest press fit on the whole car, you may actually have better luck using a hacksaw. (a dremel would work, but probably also throw shavings/debriis further)
If you're going to cut or saw the thing off, I have laid a tablecloth or bedsheet down over the center console/seats area to catch all the annoying debris that will fall down and into the cracks. I hate vacuuming up stuff like that, you can never find every single particle of it..

Just did this this afternoon. I cut the threads along the original stiched cover and pulled that off. The rubber "body" of the handle that is under that is secured to the metal rod with some sort of adhesive. A heat gun might have worked to loosen it, but I just made a slit to cut the rubber part in half lengthwise along the underside of the handle. Pulled that apart and made some strategic cuts along the adhesive on the back as I worked it off.
