Ah, I was waiting for someone to notice.

93blackFD, my good buddy Brian Thompson, has had the strut bar ends (among a few other minor parts like an AST) for oh, about 8 months now. Sent him a bunch of stuff to be "powdercoated" and didnt get it all back. Real nice. And the kicker is, 3 unanswered PMs and he has me blocked on aol IM. Brian, grab your ***** to remind yourself that you are a man, and get in touch with me please .

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled thread complete with shiny-*** 7s.

Why would that be awesome? You get what you pay for. Replicas are usually cheaply made, do not fit, and do not take well to painting. The OEM '99 is the only different bumper that will ever go on my FD

yes they sell them, but they are going to most likely be made of fiberglass.

In contrast they do sell some good ones, and the paint does finish very well. You do get what you pay for though, they aren't of course going to be as good as a urethane made one. The problem is they are more prone to chipping, and breakage.

Rich, ya make a few good points...and specifically w/ the 99spec, since it's OEM, it's a urethane bumper, which means you're gonna get something a lot more durable. The downside is that urethane is heavy, sags and gets wavy over time, and is obviously expensive.

But, I gotta say if someone's on a budget, and can do body work themselves (or cheap), a replica may very well be the way to go. We all know Mazda's prices are outrageous just cuz...lol.

I don't know if VIS Racing ever made a 99spec front replica outta polyfiber (weave of fiberglass and polyfiber, which is better than any stock urethane stuff you can buy IMO...my entire bodykit is made of it), but if not, then you're gonna have to settle for a fiberglass replica. I'm sure Brandon @ RX7Trix can help you out (www.rx7trix.com). But I personally would never put fiberglass on my car, simply cuz it'll get trashed and crack in NO time...

It's cool, didnt mean to come off as harsh. But, the bumper may be cheaper, but you will pay a body shop out the *** in extra charges for fitting it properly and getting the paint to look good. Of course, there are exceptions, but they are just that---exceptions.

Chuck at Rotary Extreme is currently creating a 99 Spec Front without the license plate bracket made of polyurethane. Replicas have been made of the 99 Spec but they are fiberglass. The current price is $475 and the group buy ends on October 15. Go check it out over at the "other forum" in the Group Buy section. Actually, if you join the group buy, you will be number 26 and the price will go down to $450. I'm so glad that I found that group buy. I really love the OEM look of the 99 Spec, but I just don't like the plate holder, especially from the side. With Chuck's bumper, you will have the best of both worlds (strength of polyurethane and no plate holder ).

Rich, your car still looks awesome though. One of the cleanest VRs for sure.
