GRINDING! but not the good kind

I just replaced my front rotors with Brembo drilled&slotted rotors and HPS+ pads.
I kept both shims even though the pads had a metal backing ( was that right? )
Now whenever I turn right it makes a wierd grinding noise!! and sometimes while turning left. I jacked up the front end and spin the front wheels by hand while turning and no noise. What's going on???

Maybe the rims are hitting the callipers?

Did you get the tension on the bearing right? too much float??

Cheers,
Dave

Replacing the rotors does not require the hub to be removed, so it isn't the bearings.

My HPS (there is no such thing as HPS+, just HPS and HP+) pads did not fit with both shims on, so I just used the bare stainless ones. I think your pads are just too thick with all the shims.

Or, you may have swapped the bolts that hold the caliper on. One has a thicker washer, and the other one will hit the rotor on the inside if you switch them. However, it usually rubs so much that it will offer a lot of resistance to spinning the wheel. Check the inside surface of your rotor to see if it is hitting.

Yeah, that's sounds like the problem that I had with my FC....only it wasn't the bolt rubbing on it. I would check it out first...but that sounds like it's it.

thanks for all your help

So I guess I'll check the bolts tonight and take out one of the shims.
I hope I didn't f-up the rotors!
Appreciate all your help.
