Greddy v-mount? Anyone?

So it's been a long time since a thread has come up on this and the last time it seemed like no one had any info what-so-ever about it. Just a bunch of opinionated comments a speculation - no real info.

So purely out of curiosity, now that some time has gone by, has anyone installed, used or even SEEN this kit?

The only thing I could find other than the brief info on their website was this one pic from the re-extreme blog:

So I'm curious.. Does anyone actually have any info on this kit?

Also interested in hearing about fitment and impressions. That's the best picture I've seen so far.

This particular v-mount set up seems like the best off the shelf kit for the simplicity and directness of the plumbing alone. I've looked at photos of the RE-A, Knightsports, and Panspeed kits and they all loop the plumbing around the engine bay in a way that seems unnecessarily complex. While other v-mount kits cross intercooler piping over top the core, Greddy keeps that area free of obstruction. Which seems like a no-brainer if incorporating a vented hood to maximize cooling.

cool looking kit. id love to run it on my stock twins

nice looking kit, looks like its around $2500 for the full kit.

I had the cast 99 spec crossover pipe from that kit, just sold it. Nice piece.

It is a good looking kit. One of the nicest executions I've seen, along with the original Knightsports kit.

ugh, shopping for intakes for my BNRs, the only ones i like are the ones that come with this v-mount....

i almost want to shell out for the kit. i wonder what lead time/shipping is.

Bryan Jacobs 03-01-14 05:50 AM

hopefully they keep it in stock in the U.S.

Jason 03-01-14 09:36 AM

They typically don't stock that in the US. Special order item from Japan.

You can get them separate eh? Greddy airinx intake kit. But the filters are really bad so I would recommend changing them. It's like 350

What does "typically" mean? Are you suggesting that there might be people who have seen it and can say a few words about it?

My buddy Sasquatch has this kit in his fd. I'd get pics for you but the problem is that he was recently abducted by a UFO while he was visiting his uncle Mr. Leprechaun at the Loch Ness.

Maybe next time.

Nice, I'm very strongly considering this, so please post some info. Where did you order from, nengun?

Mazderati 03-02-14 10:31 AM

Priced out through Nengun the kit was around $3,000 delivered. Wonder if there's enough interest to get a group buy done.

purerx7 03-02-14 10:43 AM

We have imported several kits, used they run close to $2,000. Quality was top notch from what we saw. On par if not superior to the KS kits.

Was the ic core more like the greddy front mounts or more like the Garrett cores? Like.. Bar and plate or tube and fin I think is the question

GB would never work.

purerx7 03-02-14 11:34 AM

IMO the greddy FMIC wasn't anything special, the quality of the core is significantly better along with the welds. It is just a better made kit, and it should be, MSRP was close to $3800 when first released.

Yeah that's what I meant cause the fmic was really never good. I heard someone say it has the same heat exchanging capacity as an oven mitt lol. But it sounds and looks considerably better which is good. Fmic is old technology. Probably good for its time but dated now

Heh. Probably not. But in case others are interested, I'd commit.

Rotary Extreme said the following about the Greddy V-Mount core:

"Greddy uses tube and fin, still a good set-up but ment more for front mount or direct airflow going through it. I have seen greddys tube and fin in person and the internal of the tubes are nicely packed with cooling fins. the greddy core is a good core."

Mazderati 03-02-14 12:08 PM

purerx7 - Are you able to compete with Nengun on a new kit?

I read that too but I don't think it's entirely true. I actually doubt they have actually seen the kit in which case how would they know? I'm thinking they just assumed they would use the same core as all the other greddy units which is quite a bit inferior now a days. This was released in 2010, I'd think there would be some pretty big improvements over early 90s stuff they have.
