Greddy stock mount intercooler

If i install the Greddy intercooler which fits in the stock location how much hp gain or what advantage will i get over the stock intercooler? Is front mounted better or this one also makes a big difference compared to the stock intercooler?

Red face Can't tell you the HP gain but can tell you what I know:

I beleive it's twice as thick as stock.

The intake tube rubs my silicone radiator hose. So if you change to silicone, you need to retain the rubber sleeving.

It is held on with one bolt.

It is intended to be used with the stock duct. It reatins the stock shape and the stock ducting fits perfectly.

You can get a Pettit duct but I do not recomend that if you currently have the stock one. The stock duct will cool your battery and the AC condensor thingy. The Pettit requires cutting/trimming and some sanding and still overlaps the core and has gaps.

I think it's good for 12lbs, unless maybe you use the stock duct then maybe 14lbs but I don't have the stock one anymore and mine will heat soak when I drag race at 14lbs.

It is CARB legal. The only other IC I know of that is CARB legal is HKS FMIC.

Too wide for the BLitz intake kit. I use this combo but it's not screwed in to the heat sheild.

I would only recomend if you plan on running 12lbs with stock twins and retain your stock ducting and/or if you have an auto. Otherwise spend a little more on a med' like the M2 or CWR but use a battery wrap and a gell filled battery.

It really depends on your other mods. Usually, people don't notice a lot of extra power, but what they do notice is that the turbos are more responsive. I noticed my turbos spooled quicker so it was much easier to hit boost than with the stock IC.

As far as a front mount compared to a stock mount. It really depends on what you are wanting to do with your car. Just do a search here in the forum for "FMIC SMIC" and you'll see plenty of discussions on that.

Either way it's a good mod to do. It helps to redue the amount of work your turbos need to do.

I wouldn't really bother with the Greddy SMIC, unless you just NEED it to be CARB legal. If you are going to spend money on an IC go with the M2 Med, or Large for SMIC or the Blitz or Greddy 2 row for FMIC.
Just my 2 cents.

My understanding is that the M2 Medium will NOT work with the stock air-box, stock intercooler-ducting and battery.

Can someone confirm ? Otherwise, I'm looking at a Trust/Greddy SMIC.

TIA,

:-) neil

The medium WILL work with the stock battery... but everything else will have to go.
