Greddy Intelligent Informeter - looks like there is an FD3S cable?
This is interesting. Stumbled across an Ebay auction for one of these devices, basically it's a color touchscreen OBD-2 "gauge" that works on any OBD-2 car.
looks like they did make an FD3S cable that plugs into the Diagnostic port under the hood. I haven't been able to find much on it (yet). I THINK the part number for the cable is 16401707 and RHDJapan.com lists it as a part they can get.
Now, it's neat that they made an FD-specific cable, however you're looking at $300 or so bucks for the device then more for the cable and it's a crap shoot as to what you can actually display, how fast it displays, etc.
Also have NO idea if it would work with the PowerFC, I don't think the PowerFC outputs anything to the diagnostic connector. I could be wrong, but there you go. If you have a PowerFC it makes sense just to use the Commander which is way cheaper and a known quantity.
I know someone recently was talking about this for the FD, can't find the thread. If anyone wants to be the guinea pig you can get this whole setup for a decent price on Ebay right now-
All the FD's (93-02) to my knowledge are OBD-1. IMHO that's part of the reason they stopped selling the FD in the states, they would have had to re-do the ECU for OBD-2 on a car they just sold 500 units in a year.
One of those things that's neat and if it cost $50 it would be cool, but it's $300 and that's halfway to buying a PFC.
Likely not considering the RAM addresses for the various I/O isn't the same on those older ECUs.
For example, the ECU knows when the PS state (on/off), clutch state (on/off), FANS (on/off) - the RAM addresses for those are not the same as the 16bit meaning that device would need to be updated with that info.
I don't know much about antiquated diagnostic protocols, but it's possible that both the 8 bit and 16 bit ECUs output the same diagnostic messages so that the dealer tool wouldn't have to be updated.
