Grand Spirit Tires???

Greetings,

I just bought an R1 a couple weeks ago, and have never heard of the tires that are on it. They are labeled as "Grand Spirit- Aqua Flow GTX". Does anyone know anything about these? Are they as bad as they seem?

While we're on the tire subject, feel free to recommend your favorite 225/50/16 tires. I have a feeling these Grand Spirits won't be around too long.

Cheers,
Rusty

Get those POS tires off your car this instant!

j/k, okay I'm not but....

If you want the best, go with either Bridgestone S-03s, Yokohama AVS Sports, or Pirelli Pzeros. If you want a cheaper but still good tire, go with Dunlop 8000s, Yokohama AVS Intermediates (on clearance at the tire rack), or Bridgestone RE730s.

Of all these, the S-03s are probably the best in the rain if that's a concern.

Thanks, that's exactly the info I was looking for. Armed with a few top choices, I did a few productive searches, and decided that I'll put 245/45/16 Potenza S-03's on it at some point. I put them on the wish list at tire rack, so if they come up on special, I'll go ahead and get them, otherwise the car needs a few other things first.

BTW- I did finally figure out that Grand Spirit tires are made by Cordovan. Of course I've never heard of them either, but they seem to have an OK reputation with basic car folks, particularly for treadwear. They certainly aren't performance tires though, and the lack of traction confirms this.

Thanks,
Rusty
