TN Got a PFC, buy Pettit Thermostat?

I've got a PFC, I'm ordering an FC-Hako to adjust the fans, so I don't need to buy the Pettit Racing fan switch.
Is it worth buying the thermostat that they sell however?

I hear it isn't really necessary for road going, mainly for racing.

It isn't worth for racing either. Buy the S5 Thermosensor from Ray @ Malloy Mazda so your fans come on at 95 C and be done with it.

Cam certainly knows his stuff and I've seen him be incredibly generous with his time and advice to people I know but a lot of their products are rebranded/rebadged items that you can get elsewhere (or make yourself if that is your thing) for significantly less.

Should I even bother with that if I have a PFC? I can adjust fans in there can't I?

With a dataloggit you can, however, still grab the FC thermoswitch as it makes the first stage of the fans iniate a little sooner. I havent played with the fan settings in years in the PFC but Im pretty sure the FC thermoswitch still serves a purpose to getting the fans to him make speed sooner.

I wouldn't buy the Pettit switch.
I bought one and when I connected it with my PFC, the fans stayed on and I couldn't turn them off.

Just set the fan speed on the PFC settings and you will be fine. With the PFC you can set the low and high speed setting at whatever temps you want...

+1, no need for the thermoswitch if you adjust the fan speed with the datalogit.

Please see my thread https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...ntrols-876767/ and DaleClark's thread https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generati...system-906142/ about how the fan system works.

the thermoswitch and the PFC control two different sets of relays. They are contrl the fans independently of each other. Getting the FC thermoswitch does help even when you have PFC changing the operating point of one set of relays.

I don't recommend running a cooler thermostat. The stock one is fine. I don't recommend removing or changing any of the thermostats in the vehicle, including the oil cooler and oil jet thermostat ("eshaft thermopellet").

Cool stuff.
The FC fan switch can probably be had from Malloy Mazda, yeah?

^ Yes Sir. Agreed on the OEM thermostat. Depending on your setup, it can run too cool. I was seeing 81C on a cool day with my Vmount even on a stock thermostat.
