Good tires for a FD with stock rims

I've got stock rims on my 7 and am in need of new tires pretty damn soon. I've got a daily driver (had to go from a 90 ford probe to a 92 subaru legacy cuz my probe tranny died) so I won't likely be driving in the rain (unless it starts raining in the middle of my cruise). I've been thinking mainly about:

Bridgestone S-03 PP's or Falken Azenis.

I've heard they both are awesome on dry pavement, but that the S-03's are a lot better for wet conditions. Anyone have any comments? I don't autox or anything, I do take occasional backroads and highways with twisties but I don't rape the car. Also, where is a good place to buy tires online? Any other suggestions for tires for stock rims?

I put Bridgestone RE 730's on mine....... about 120 each installed and out the door at my local Costco..........I love them in dry and wet conditions............. have run them at Sebring and they performed well...........

There are all sorts of reviews and opinions on Tirerack.com for all types of tires so check em out.................

Good luck

David

I just got the Dunlop SP5000s and noticably better grip than before. Drove in the rain once already and was solid, they are cheap too..... About $100 ea.

Ugh, I don't agree with either of those choices. The 730s have far less grip than the S-03s and the SP5000s are an all-season tire (they work great on my wife's Protege ).

Spring for the S-03s. The most important performance part on the car is the tire -- everything you do goes through them.

If you don't want to spend that much, get Yokohama AVS Intermediates or Dunlop SP8000s for less than a $100/tire.

Go to www.Tirerack.com. Very good website with solid prices.

Ah I missed where he said no rain. Here in FL an all-season tire is a must, though.

Actually all-season tires give up dry AND wet traction to provide a minimum of snow traction. Most "high performance" tires will handle better in the wet than an "all season" tire. This is especially true of the Bridgestone S-03.
