is this a good deal?

hey everyone... im new to the forums and was looking for a FD for a project and i came across ebay and found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...558543174&rd=1

i was planning on purchasing the car as is for 25k but wanted to know if this is a good deal? only thing that bugs me is that the car wasn't tuned for the power yet.
It was only tuned to be driveable so that the buyer knows that the only one to ever push the car would be them.

Please let me know what you guys think. TIA

tbh, i would never buy an RX7 from ebay. I would look at an Rx7 i saw on ebay, but its too risky to bid on something you have never seen.

I would also NEVER buy a car with problems, or one that i cannot drive properly to test boosting etc (i.e one thats not tuned yet)

It might be fine...but it might not. These are risks you take!

25k? no way... not for me at least. Car might have underlying problems you don't know about. As bobfish has said, I would NEVER buy a car with problems....

Doesn't he (the seller) post on this board? I remember that car from somewhere on here.

And weird, he has this car that is well modded, and is considering trades for another (project) RX7. Kinda weird.

I remember that tiny IC piping being posted here a while back. Not sure if that owner is the current owner selling it, but it was posted on the forum before...

25K for a project car? Look in the RX-7 for sale section here. You'll get a way better deal. If a project is what you want, get one that isn't as highly modified.

You are better off buying mine - 16500 original miles - I will post it on ebay soon. Price should be between $25000 to $30000 - not sure yet

My friend bought a car from ebay and got ripped off. The pictures on the website were a couple years old if I remember correctly. Car was shipped with a broken windshield, no dash, grinding tranny, no idle etc, while the pics showed nothing. Dont trust it.

If you do insist, then the best thing to do would be to make sure to get NEW pictures of the car. I dont mean pictures that you havent seen before; I mean pictures that no one would have lying around so that they have to actually use their camera. Make them do something outrageous in order to sell it to you, like putting a can of mayo next to some hotdogs in the front seat. See, cuz no one in their right mind keeps a pic like that sitting around. This is the only way to ensure that the car is indeed in their possession, and that the car is as they say it is. If I remember correctly there were a few owners on this forum who have had their car for sale on ebay numerous times without their approval :-P.

Another way to ensure it would be to fly out and see the car. If you're going to be spending 25k on a car its better to risk an extra 300 bucks for a round trip ticket than the whole 25k. Good luck with the hunt!

BTW where in the bay area? I'm in Los Gatos. Check craigslist too (www.craigslist.com), I believe I saw a nice FD there a couple days ago.

I wouldn't buy a car that i have not seen, test driven, check with my mechanic. But anyway like what was mentioned, book a ticket and go check it out.

Btw my car was for sale on ebay several time without me know anything. Be carefull!!

don't buy a c 7 unless you see it and test drive it.. I came VEERRYY close to messing up, I was going to buy it but the guys on here told me to test drive first and when I did, I got back to the dealer and a pool of oiler spilled out the bottom.

Yeah unless you drive it and see it first hand I wouldn't... just look for one on the boards or on auto-trader.. a local one is always floating around.
