Talking Good buy? From FC to FD.

hey guys, i have a question for you. I work at a Mazda dealer and to my surprise we do alot of rotary work here. One day i noticed this dark green FD just sitting there for like 2 months. I asked about it and they said a customer had all this work done a couldnt pay the bill, so hes letting us sell it on consignment. its a 93 touring. the work done:
Brand new motor(not rebuilt, but actually new rotors,housing,etc....)
new ECU
new Vacuum lines
New tranny and clutch(stock)
new shocks
new tires
new solinoids
new air pump
rebuilt turbos
and all misc, belts,clamps,plugs,wires,......

the interior however is abit dirty. The guy smoked and the driver door interior feels like its loose.

the body is straight with some paint blemishes.

ok, heres my Q. hes asking 13,500 for it. what do you think? I have an FC vert now that i love, but when i drove this car, HOLY HELL! i couldnt stop grinning.

anyone want to buy an FC?

But seriously, that looks like an AMAZING deal.. NEW motor!? this is a no-brainer, my friend. while other barely-running FD's sell for about this price, you should jump at the oppurtunity to grab it. you said the most important thing yourself, "i couldnt stop grinning." dammit, im getting all excited for you. have fun!

fd is a better car in all sense of the word, get it if you can afford it... but know what your getting yourself in to before hand. as for inteior, rip everything out and buy new seats (they can be had for as low as 200 bucks for 2 or just 2 racing seats) and paint everything else. you have discount becuase you work for a dealer so it should be pretty cheap for all the little stuff you might need.

good luck

You didn't say how many miles on the body, but assuming its reasonable - with a brand spanking new motor and parts... i don't see how it can be a bad deal. Not to mention,.. the discounts going fwd

sounds like a damn good deal to me. If you dont plan on scooping this car up, please let someone else on the forum know where abouts the car is. This way it wont sell to some complete moron who is gonna blow the motor withing a month. good luck.

Sounds like a great deal! Despite the interior and the paint, if the motor is solid along with the turbos, its a great buy.

where in los angeles? i work next door to a mazda dealer (at mitsubishi in alhambra). but yeah that FD sounds like a good deal man. just expect to spend as much on as you do on the car as you do in repairs and mods over the next few years LOL.

Hi I am new to the forums(hope to be an fd owner soon ). I am interested even though I live like an hour away. Please post any more information you can give about the car like clean title, mileage on the body. Also, just wondering if a lot of people have shown interested in buying it soon. (wouldn't want to drive an hour to find out its sold). Thanks.

Okay, I have one more question, if I were to buy this car would I pay the dealer or the actual owner of the rx-7? My parents are buying the car for me and we may have a trade in(yea sorry im spoiled :p) so if we are buying straight from the owner there could be a problem.

i was just wondering, what made you go with the rx8? i know you must have driven both so what made the rx8 better? was it the warrenty? suspension? engine/power band/power? looks exterior/interior? safty futures (i cant believe they got 6 airbags in to it hehe)?

i have driven both as well and personnaly found the RX-7 to be better in nearly every way except for the safty and warrenty part. i have to admit the interior was not that bad for a car but it is a new car i still do like the 7's interior better though but thats just me, i do wish i had a newer 7's interior becuase of the padded ashtray hehe but one can be had for only 100 bucks.

it has 87543 miles on the body, a clean title, and you would pay the owner not he dealer. We just took it because he couldnt pay the bill on all the stuff we put in it. by all means call me at Mazda at 818-787-3800, and ill can tell you more.

And i went with the RX8 because it basically an brand new car, and ive never owend an new car before. true the RX7 would spank it, but im not looking to race anyone anymore, beside once you drive the 8 on a twisty road, with the navigation yelling at you,the radio blasting, and the roar of the engine at 9000 rpm, well damn thats just amazing. Beside i get an employee discount on the car, so that helps.
